Danny has quite a bounce in his step at the end.

Typical Danny fan analysis. It's as if all the results don't count.

Well perez earlier results don't count,so why the hell should yuki and ric count.

Why is your time box the last 6 races

Well I'm not going to replace someone who started the year well and their form has tailed off with someone who started the year well and has been outperformed by their teammate the last 6 weeks and crashed twice just like perez.
Yeah that makes sense

Danny was handed a raw deal by his team

Yeah no shite.
He was faster in practice and qualifying, didn't put his car into the barrier like perez in qualifying and faster on race day.

One team per ownership group should be the rule.

RB owning two teams is ridiculous and I can't believe it has been allowed for so long.

Jesus, thanks for the quote.

Funny to read that Merc were probably being cheeky leaving too much fuel in for final weigh in.

Crazy ending to that race. Was real surprised coming back to this thread a few hours later and seeing the shite show.

Going back to Russell's DQ, it got me thinking about weight. So, fuel is not calculated in the final weigh-in, but tires are? This doesn't make sense to me. Both items are "consumable." To me, it would make sense to weigh the driver + car without fuel and tires included in that number. I don't see why a team should be penalized for gambling on tire deg and fuel consumption. As long as you get to inspection after the race with enough fuel for a sample and enough weight on the car without spec tires, then you should be good. Change my mind.

My whole thing with Yuki is that he can be a bit of a wild card. Being the #2 driver is more than just speed. I don’t know if they can trust him to not go rogue, get upset, or just piss off max.

This tyre myth excuse is bullshite. No one in history has ever missed weight because of tires. You don’t actually lose that much weight from the tires anyway. Everyone else managed to hit weight doing it this way and fuel weight varies way more than tire loss from deg

I've never really thought about weight or looked into it.

So when is the car weighed?

Pre-Quali?
Post-Quali?
Pre-Race?

What is the reference point and what could have changed between those two points aside from removing components?

Completely agree with you about the fact that they’re consumables and you shouldn’t be able to miss weight because of them but I assume teams would do even more sketchy things if they knew they had a free pass with their tires. I could see them doing rolling burnouts down to the belts if they knew they could get their full fat heavy tires on afterwards.
I saw some math that it would easily add the 1.5 kg if they had picked up chunky rubber on the cooldown lap like they normally do.
Something like just 1/10th of an inch of extra rubber on each tire would have done it.

It's rare but it has happened before, at Hungary to Kubica in 2006 when his car was 2 kg underweight after excessive rubber loss from wet-weather tires.

The Merc trackside engineer says they don't know what caused the problem but it that a "contributing factor" could be tire degradation, although obviously the team seemingly trying to monkey with the fuel drainage seems suspicious.
