I'm curious what sort of punishment is coming mercedes' way considering they initially left the exact amount of fuel in the car for George to make the weight before having to drain it again.

Do they weigh all the cars or just podium? They may have thought there was no chance and took a risk
Posted on 7/28/24 at 1:42 pm to MikeD
They are all weighed as far as I know.
There is no way it was anything other than a mistake.
I am curious if they weigh them after qualifying. You would think they do. And if so, how did his car lose weight in parc ferme?

Yuki earned the 2nd Red Bull seat.
Putting Liam in the seat would be crazy and unfair to Liam.
Looks like Danny is going to get it.
Marko wants Liam to race, so he will go to VCARB and Perez is out.

To be fair, qualifying 2nd and finishing 8th is s pretty good day for 2024 checo

OK it's the summer break. Red Bull may make driver changes for the second half of the season. It's time to put in your prediction on how the Red Bull driver shuffle shakes out. I have actually counted nine possible scenarios, including not making any driver change.
The Current Situation
Red Bull: Max, Checo
VCARB: Yuki, Danny
Reserve: Liam
Max and Yuki's seats are safe through 2025. Both drivers have scored around twice as many points as their respective teammates.
Checo and Danny have both underperformed expectations. They are older veterans who are expected to consistently perform at a high level. In the 1st Qtr of the season, Checo performed well, while Danny made too many mistakes. In the 2nd Qtr of the season, Checo has fallen apart, while Danny has upped his game and is performing well.
Liam Lawson is understood to be free to find a seat with another team in September if Red Bull doesn't offer him a seat. Helmut Marko stated recently that the shareholders want to see VCARB as a junior team again, nurturing young talent. Marko has said at least a couple of times that he wants to see Liam race this year. However, Marko's authority in the Red Bull organization has diminished since the big man died.
Also note that Red Bull Junior Isack Hadjar is currently leading the F2 standings, so it's also possible that Red Bull are willing to risk letting Lawson go because they feel Hadjar will be ready to promote to VCARB next year.
The Scenarios for the Second Half of 2024
I've counted nine scenarios, arranged in three groups by Checo's fate.
Each scenario is given a letter. Please post your prediction by the letter. I believe Predictions C and D are considered the most likely, but Prediction A, maintain the status quo, is a possibility as well.
Group 1 - Checo keeps his seat
Prediction A - No Change!
Red Bull: Max, Checo
VCARB: Yuki, Danny
Reserve: Liam
Prediction B - Liam gets an audition
Red Bull: Max, Checo
VCARB: Yuki, Liam
Reserve: Danny
Group 2 - Checo is kicked out, Liam gets an audition
Prediction C
Red Bull: Max, Danny
VCARB: Yuki, Liam
Reserve: Checo
Prediction D
Red Bull: Max, Liam
VCARB: Yuki, Danny
Reserve: Checo
Prediction E
Red Bull: Max, Yuki
VCARB: Danny, Liam
Reserve: Checo
Group 3 - Checo gets a seat at VCARB
Prediction F
Red Bull: Max, Danny
VCARB: Yuki, Checo
Reserve: Liam
Prediction G
Red Bull: Max, Liam
VCARB: Yuki, Checo
Reserve: Danny
Prediction H
Red Bull: Max, Yuki
VCARB: Danny, Checo
Reserve: Liam
Prediction I
Red Bull: Max, Yuki
VCARB: Checo, Liam
Reserve: Danny

I'm going with Prediction E, Yuki at Red Bull, Liam in, Perez out, the logical choice if not the most likely choice.

Yeah, Checo has to just be bumped to reserve
If he can’t do shite with a RB car he certainly cant do shite with a VCARB.
Would be him and Logan vying for back of grid every race

C seems the most logical. Horner gets Danny in the RB like he wants, Marko gets Liam a seat like he wants, both get a tryout for those seats until end of the season. That makes both Marko and Horner happy.

Logical solution would be to let Yuki and Lawson battle these last 10 races and put one of them in the Red Bull for 2025. Hadjar to VCARB.
I’m rooting for Danny but I highly doubt he does enough the rest of this season to stake a claim to that seat. He probably won’t frick up as much as Checo but he won’t be that fast either.

I'll be surprised if they don't move RIC into Perez's seat and Lawson into the open Toro Rosso for a half season try out.
Sushi is too wildly emotional and while his performance has been uneven, Danny is good at development which they could use at RBR right now.
Apparently he likes a loose car as well, which simplifies things a bit for RBR, versus trying to make the car drivable for Perez.

Probably the best solution. Danny is a pair of sure hands. And that’s unfair to ask Lawson to jump in RBR this early.

I’ll go with C. Just don’t think Red Bull has any interest in Yuki.
