Note there is absolutely no mention, reference, or even intimation concerning touching.
I could see it both ways but I'd argue the jack touching the car constitutes working on the car.

Seems the rule just needs to be clarified going forward.

Doesn’t matter how good the Merc drivers are

That car stands no chance vs RB

Max going to run away with it

Yes, the battle may be for 2nd, but it's still an important battle.

2023 Formula 1 season Thread by TouchedTheAxeIn82I hate how Lawrence Stroll reserves a seat for his son, but at least he takes F1 seriously and is aggressively moving the team up the grid.
Lance Stroll been witch hunt since day one.

Let's be honest, Lewis is the number 2 driver at Mercedes and George is behind Max, Leclerc, Alonso, Norris and possibly a handful of other drivers (Ocon? Sainz?). There's no "how good the drivers are" - the car and drivers are mediocre.

Merc finishes 4th this season.

Apropos of nothing, I noticed that numerous drivers finished in the same position in both races. We'll see if anyone keeps their streak alive in two weeks.

Alonso P3 in both races.
Hamilton P5 in both races.
Gasly P9 in both races.
Yuki P11 in both races. That's gotta hurt.
de Vries P14 in both races.
Lando P17 in both races. Ouch.

Poor Lando is dead last in the championship. Everyone else has a finish higher than P17.

It's okay to not like them, but they're better than mediocre.

I mean this is pretty dumb. Ricciardo regularly had p17-like finishes in the same car Norris was regularly finishing in p7 with. If Norris has a p17 car now, that would seem only guarantee a p20 spot for ricciardo.

We knew going into the season that Max was pretty much a lock to win it all. I hoped that Ferrari might have closed the gab a bit overall but it looks pretty clear that Checco is probably a lock for the #2 spot.

It's nice that there is a three way battle for second but man I hate the race winner already being decided before the race starts.

Love seeing McLaren suck it up because I don't like Zak Brown Band but I hate it for Lando. Wonder if two races in if Piastri is thinking yeesh, maybe I should have stuck with Aston Martin.

I've been impressed with the driving of the three rookies so far. None of them have binned a car and all have driven solidly given what they have to drive.

Ferrari not being able to get around Merc at Jeddah is a pretty ominous sign for the rest of the year.

Piastri was excellent in Qualifying. Just had some bad luck with car damage.

As an aussie I am naturally following piastri.
Been impressed with his speed after 10 or so laps.
1st race was gaining places before the tractor gave up.
Last race he caught up to a group of 4 cars just before the yellow flag and mclaren kept him out and didn't even gain a place.
Naturally everyone on new rubber moved away from him while Norris was able to pass.

Aussies traditionally have been hard on tires but from the first 2 races Piastri gives me hope we have an aussie who can gain places on old rubber instead of going backwards halfway through a stint.

Merc has shite pace, but they do manage to finish just about every race. If they figure literally anything out, they’ll be trouble again.

Honestly, if in 2018 Horner hadn't screwed up and hired Perez, instead of hiring an available Alonzo, just to protect the fragile ego of Max, it would have been amazing fun to see the two Red Bulls fiercely competing against each other for points. Instead, Max is treated "special" and Perez's success is predicated on positioning Max to win.

His goal is to win championships. Having two drivers fueding with each other is a recipe for disaster, this has been documented time and time again. Especially with Alonso. Having a clear 1-2 is better to win championships, especially when your number 1 driver is a self motivated psychopath who doesn't need to be pushed. Max so how helpful Bottas was to Hamilton, its successful formula.

Also for these penalties, why don't they just let them execute the pit stop then start the time penalty? They hae the little red/green light thing anyway.
