new to the F1 thread, so excuse my novice commentary if it's a bit off. I assume a lot of new fans are here from the netflix series just as I am, but i've been hooked ever since.

i've watched every race live this season (5:45 was not fun this morning, ha) and have enjoyed every race except Monaco.

love the "new" Perez now at Red Bull. I say "new" because throughout my watching of the sport it seems that the drivers' success is also dependent on the car, the pit crew, and all things in between. To me, he's always been a great driver, and now with a front running team he only showcases that more.

He had an exciting start of the race today, but i must admit even though it was a 1/2 finish for red bull, Max was SO far ahead. Once Leclerc was out, there was no real threat to Max and Perez but where was Perez the rest of the race?! He has had performances where he shows a real threat to Max for the championship, but today seemed off from the other races this season.

funny sidenote of the race -- Lando actin a fool creeping up on Ricciardo like that when told to hold position. what a little shite

To me Checo is a good driver who can put in great performances. Max, Lewis, and I think Charles are just a cut above of that. Great drivers who don’t really put themselves out of position to win (when given a reliable car that performs).

I think Russell will be in that group as well but hard to tell since he hasn’t been in a quick enough car to compete yet.

Honda FTW. I’m gonna miss them when they leave.

Man, I want to be a Russell fan but I just can't commit. I don't NOT like him, but nothing stands out for me. I do think he's driven pretty solid all season long. Torn on the Lewis fandom tbh. I can see the dramatics he puts off, but at the end of the day he's won 7 WC's. I think Russell with be driver 1 at Mercedes earlier than people think, or want.

Not just public opinion.

Meh. They arguably put together the worst engine in the sport has seen in the last couple of decades for 4 consecutive seasons with McLaren when Alonso drove for them. And when they did get their act together it was after a likable team like McLaren had already dropped them and ended up handing Red Bull a bunch of wins and a WDC.

Not to mention the fact that Max was told not to use DRS the last 5 or so laps.
Uh, what?

He was so far ahead and then had lap cars which would allow use. But if it stuck open he’d have to pit to fix so they told him not to use it. Other than mechanical or tire its the only way he could lose race. Keep in mind all their DRS problems last race.

Boring race but good to see both bulls on top. Ferrari now having reliability issues we saw from RBR at the start of the year.

Were you aware that you can register to buy the tickets at face value? Go to the COTA website and look for it. You'll get a notice by email about 5-7 weeks after the F1 to log-in and put a deposit down of $250 a ticket if you want reserved seats. They hold your deposit, and then sometime in the first quarter of next year, you will get an email with a link to purchase at a particular time and a password to enter. At that time you can go in, find the seats that you want and make your purchase, purchase concert upgrades and purchase a parking pass.

All at face value. Ticket pricing is based on location and whether the seats are high or low. The lower you are, the less you can see.

My tickets are on Turn 12 and I purchased four on the top row. These were the most expensive for Turn 12. You can stand on the top row and see everything from Turn 1 through Turn 17. That row, on that Turn, were $522 each. On the open market, looks like others are selling those for around $2300. Seats down lower are listed at $1750. Even the parking for 3 days was only $95. Those are selling now for $750+. Key takeaway: put up the deposit and purchase in the pre-sale. Scalpers are going in dry.

They also notify you of the day that general admission goes on sale. Those are cheap, like $50. Those, for all three days, are now going for $600+.

I did feel like I was sort of ripped off by paying the upgrade fee for the Saturday night concert. Last year, it was Billy Joel. We were only 20' from the stage, so I purchased this year's upgrade, and they had not announced the act. Then 2 months later they announced it was Ed Sheeran. I was like, "Whaaaat?" I'm sure he's one of the top talents, won a bunch of Grammy's, but not what I was hoping for, myself. Green Day plays on Friday night.

Good for him

The FIA shouldn’t do shite about the bouncing. The teams need to adapt and sacrifice performance. RB and Ferrari seem to have figured it out, so why should the likes of Merc get an advantage bc they haven’t.

everyone seems to have forgotten charles 46 point lead was in large part to the bulls going up in smoke almost every other race. Their reliability still is suspect and they will definitely face penalties at some point

I’m pretty sure they are gonna be pushing the budget cap as well. Racey has been vocal about some teams not having enough to travel at EOY.

F1 doesn't give a damn about climate change or saving money.

They were just in Miami then went back to Europe and now back in North America again.

I know Vettel's bitch arse won't say anything.
