I think you may have read a headline talking about the UConn men being #1 for the first time in 15 years, not the women.

They won 4 straight from 2013-2016. Where did you learn to count?

The women have been ranked #1 in 23 of the last 30 regular seasons. They also won the tourny in 11 of those seasons.
The MEN have not been ranked #1 during the regular season for the past 15 years (2008). But they did win 3 NCAAT during that span - 2023, 2014 and 2011 so they were effectively #1.
