i think a good idea for the base packs would be to only give 1 card per pack which would then allow more people to get access to drops

it allows wider adoption while preserving scarcity

This is so dumb. Each card says the exact number of times it came be pulled, so there's no secret scarcity.

It's just artificial scarcity created by Top Shot to bolster their marketplace.

That's why I'm so bearish on Top Shot's implementation of this. I love the idea of digital "memorabilia", but they are completely manipulating it

yea they create "scarcity" and then collect on the high marketplace transaction fees

I'm not sure how it all evolves

Kinda like trading card companies, beanie babies, CryproKitties, diamond distributors, etc?

You don't think trading card companies are creating scarcity? There are dozens of serial numbered rare parallel subsets in every set now. The only difference between it and base card it most instances is the scarcity of the arbitrary number they decided to print.

Every single one of those cards is put into print, which is a massive difference.

Panini, Topps, tPCI, WoTC, konami, etc just print those things into oblivion. They have no reason to withhold prints since they make their same money no matter what.

Do distributors hold product? Not at all. They may adjust their pricing based on demand, but they motive is to move it.

Do local stores hold product? Likely, but that's a minuscule portion of the overall print runs.

Whether Panini makes a 1/1, x/75 or x/500 Zion rookie, it gets printed and distributed. Top Shot is intentionally holding product to drive up demand to their marketplace

After a week or so of reflection on this topic I have some thoughts. I still can't wrap my head around digital highlights as a value to me personally. That's where my hangup with all of this is. However, I did try to invest in the crypto that is behind this but that option is not available.

I really am trying to be open minded about it and I hope you all make a ton of money in this. I just can't see investing a few thousand dollars on this and I may regret it just like I regret not pulling the trigger on a joint bitcoin investment years ago.

do you still carry photographs of your kids in your wallet or do you just store them on your cell phone?
