It's a glorified consolation prize position in the playoff to make those teams feel like they accomplished something

I googled Super Bowl winners by seed:
#1 Seed - 53%
#2 Seed - 20.4%
#3 Seed - 4%
#4 Seed - 14.3%
#5 Seed - 4%
#6 Seed - 4%
#7 Seed - 0%

When you compare that to CFB are the CFB results really that surprising? Is it really a travesty that the lower seeds never do anything?

So you agree that Texas and notre dame didn’t belong in the playoff.

A 16 never won tournament

A 12 seed will win a 1st round game eventually

Maybe OP should actually make a point then. Because who gives af if the last team in the playoff never wins the whole thing?

He just wanted to start his own G5 teams don’t belong thread. He wouldn’t start this if Texas and Notre Dame were 11 & 12.

At least give a decent team a chance. Tulane and JMU have no business being in over ND, Vandy or Texas.

It’s gonna be a bloodbath for these Group Of teams every year until proven otherwise.

Yes, but on a given day the gap between a 16 seed and 1 seed in basketball than the gap in football. The reason is because football is a more physical sport. In basketball a 1 need can have a bad shooting night, or the opponent’s style is enough of a contrast to be successful. But the 1 seed can’t just physically bully the 16 in basketball.

That’s EXACTLY what happens in football. There is no getting hot from 3 in football. If you physically can’t handle the opponent you can’t win

well the nfl has only had a 7 for like a year

it used to be 2 byes

and 2 afc wildcard games and 2 nfc wildcards games when the format was better.......lower went on the road in the divisional to the 2

so the 0% isn't shocking

Especially if they’re G5 teams.

They won’t be happy unless it’s the same 8 teams every year.

Tulane and James Madison should have a bye this week. And Kennesaw State, Boise State, western Michigan, and the highest ranked G5 conference at large (North Texas) should be playing this week. Those 2 game winners plays Tulane and James Madison, and the winner players the G5 Championship game.

Done. The only way they should be in the CFP is if they are ranked in the top 8, undefeated, and a conference champion (which they would be being undefeated). And I think the ranking should be a newer version of the BCS and not committee.
