I missed going all in near the bottom this Spring dont want to miss another opportunity to buy. I've got about $50k ready to deploy in index funds VTI and VUG. Thoughts on how long/far the market continues down this time?

If trump wins the market will keep crashing because of coronavirus

If Biden wins he will cure it

RIP

I don't always buy dips, but when I do, it's 10% lower than ATH. Generational opportunity.

I done buying for now. Will wait till election and let the dust settle. I'm hurting right now but after election if see some stability in the market will add some more shares of the companies i own already at a lower price. That will help me avg down some of those stocks.

The time to average down is now. It may be after the election as well, but it is also now.

Been buying a few thousand at a time. Looking back should have just gone all in months or years ago. Dont want to miss another buying opportunity while I slowly DCA in. On the other hand, I like the idea of having some dry powder to throw into the fray if bottom falls out of market.

After the election dust settles and there is a coronavirus stimulus.

This is very easy to do and why we DCA over time. Have a game plan ahead of time instead of being reactionary.

I think it also makes sense to do as you are doing and DCA until we have a major drop and then buy more than usual.

Hard to know when to buy. Looking back I nearly "called the bottom" back in March when I bought VTI at $109.87 (low was 109.49). Sadly, only bought a little over $2k as I lost confidence after larger buys on the way down.

Why average down. If you think the market is going down get out and buy more when it does go down. I never understand that thinking.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around this. Which of his policies do you think will motivate the stock market?

Good way to look at it. I'd be better off if I just bought more every time I wasn't willing to sell. For years pre COVID, I kept expecting a market correction but wasn't convinced enough to sell. Good thing I didn't bail.

Because no one knows when the bottom will hit, or what price it will be. So buying on the way down is buying at a discount. How is that hard to understand? No one can time the market. Is the bottom today? Will it be tomorrow? Two weeks from now? This mythical 'bottom' seems to allure everyone when in reality you could be buying this whole time when stocks are on sale.
