So, I was just informed that my agency will be implementing the payroll tax deferment signed by the Prez.

Is there a site to figure out how much you are going to owe back at tax time?

TIA.

Is that how it is going to work?

Typically the employer is on the hook for the employee and employer portion of payroll taxes.....that is why they do the payroll deduction....I'd think the feds will collect from your employer and your employer would simply hold out more from your paycheck whenever that time comes.

What I want to know is... if I opt-out of the deferment, will I get a check down the road if Congress decides to forgive the repayments?

Not how it works. Your pay will be reduced from Jan 1 through April 30 to pay it back.

You mean the employer pays half correct?

Pretty sure trump said if elected he planned to push to make it permanent and wouldn’t have to pay it back. Could be wrong.

Why would a company not participate?
It would be on the employee to repay?

Highly doubtful. Right now, there is no answer to that question.

Intelligent employers are not doing this until more information comes out.

If they employer participates, and the employee leaves January 1st, the employer is stuck with the bill.

That's certainly what he's hoping voters will believe. Unfortunately, it will have to pass both chambers.

You think a supposedly great businessman would make this easier for businesses, but no. He decided to make it a headache. We have opted out.
