Powell spoke today. Yellen spoke also.
The whole direction of the market rises and falls with their every word.
And yet no one here is talking about it?
Powell said, he did not expect inflation to rise above 2.5 % this year and that inflation is under control.
I thought this would be good news for the market , yet we had a down day.
Did I hear this correctly and what am I missing?

Nothing earthshaking was said and the market was slightly down. Now we move on to tomorrow's news.

Probably because most of what they say is a complete joke and all that matters is their view on rates , SLR, QE. Otherwise, what they say means very little.

Expectations that the economy is poised to kick arse = Less likely there will be more stimulus

This is a case where good news is bad news for the stock market.

Any time you start talking about tax raises the market gets scared. The market still has more shaking out to do, so expect more of the same for at least a week, maybe more.

Inflation of what is 2.5%? Maybe milk and bread, but not tuition, healthcare, real estate, luxury goods?

If we don’t have inflation, our debt is clearly unsustainable.

If we do have inflation, yields will rise, in which case stocks will be under pressure.

J Pow and Co. thought they could generate inflation without a rise in rates. That’s looking less likely.

“Excluding the volatile food and energy sectors.”

Real inflation at the pump is 25% or more right now.
Everything we buy is going to be marked up because of that.
