Not at all. This board like many money/financial related boards will have more educated people who make good money and money decisions posting.
And poor people don’t brag on message boards about being poor. LOL
Just go read through the comments section on almost any local news page and read through the stupid comments. That will make you feel better about yourself

Money buys freedom to use time, it does not buy happiness. I lurked this site for a long time, from when I worked hourly to starting a business.
If you're wanting to climb the ladder of dollars, it's harder and a longer climb if you're working for someone else. There's absolutely nothing wrong with either but if you work for yourself, the sky is the limit on money. It can also be the basement.
It's all relative too and we all have different economic thermostats. Once you get used to making X...you'll feel broke/rich if you're under or over that economic thermostat amount.

Eh, most millionaires become millionaires because they have other people making them money.
To answer OP's question, reading this board does make wonder if my projections/goals are in line with how I want to live my retirement. I grew up poor, so at the very least I know I am providing my family with a better upbringing than I had and will give them experiences I never knew were even possible.
The funny ones to me are the ones that want to boast how well they do, but when you get into future planning they haven't started college funds, hit the bare minimum for company match, talk about working past 65/70, never go on family vacations, talk about sacrifices they need to make to make sure gets go to solid schools..

Checking in (bout 25 years). Around 95 percentile for income and net worth for my age. And completely debt free.
You would not know it by the car I drive or the house we live in.
I don't know how some people afford the vehicles and houses they do.

MTB is the one board I actually take posters at face value. I have no reason to assume someone that frequents this board needs to lie to inflate an ego. Anyone that is hanging around this board already has more financial interest and likely discipline than the vast majority of the population. And, I think there are numerous millionaires on this board — and not just folks who have been working decades.
