Can’t believe I’m asking this and it’s likely an indication that crypto prices have peaked, but is it negligent to NOT have crypto in your portfolio? If so, what percentage is appropriate?

This is a serious question - crypto crazies need not respond.

Yes it is negligent but I’m all in on the future moving in that direction. Taking a step back, a conservative view is this: allocate between 1%-5% of your net worth to crypto (bitcoin imo if you aren’t trying to trade the market). The asymmetrical upside vs risk is huge. The upside potential on that 1% is that it could become 10% of your net worth. The downside is you lose 1% (won’t happen, it’s never going to zero, ship has sailed on that being a possibility).

I own 5

Bitcoin
Ethereum
LiteCoin
Vechain/Thor
Doge

White BTC is my least owned and biggest % of my crypto portfolio in dollars, By far the most coins is Vechain. Closing in on 200k coins. It’s also the most exciting in terms of real world use.

Investment wise close to 10% of my portfolio is crypto

Yes in my view. Especially since you can now efficiently hedge crypto positions.

Also in my view those that speak of balanced asset allocation, and think owning 100% equities in different sectors is balanced, could potentially get an unwelcome surprise as they get closer to retirement.

I don't know what percentages of different asset classes is appropriate for you. That's a question that will get a lot of different answers, and ultimately this is a question only you can answer.

Outside of my 401k, I have every spare dollar in Crypto. I'd rather have my money in my hands and sink or swim like this than watch Slow Joe and the fed continue to print my dollars into nothingness.

I invest in Crypto with the HODL mentality. I DCA into BTC, ADA, DOT, VET , CRO, VGX and I mine ETH on the side but its converted into to BTC.

JP Morgan advised some of their clients to put 1% of their net worth into BTC. I’d personally say you should go higher (maybe 2% of your net worth for starters) and diversify that portfolio into the other projects.

I'm probably in the minority but 80% of my investment portfolio is now in crypto.

I followed MT board and many thought the stock market would tank after Biden was elected. So in December I pulled pretty much everything and put it in BTC, ALGO, LINK, and DASH.

It has worked well so far

I think most experts now recommend 1-5% of a portfolio be crypto if you're older or 10-20% if you're younger.

I now have about 10% of networth in crypto due to the recent surge.. but no, I do not think it is negligent to not have crypto in your portfolio. Millions of people will never own crypto and do just fine.

I think 5-10%ish is a good ballpark. All my crypto investment is in Galaxy Digital (BRPHF) stock. They are on track to basically be the Goldman Sachs of crypto. Huge growth yet to come on the institutional adoption side and Galaxy is well positioned to capture a lot of that. With uplisting later this year, I think it’s an easy 3-4 bagger even from today’s prices.

owning crypto/bitcoin is an insurance on fiat fragility. so ask yourself how confident you are in the dollar. then allocate from there

I'm honestly about to move heavy into crypto outside of my 401K and Roth

Since those already make up the overwhelming majority of my investments I have no problem with my "play money" investments going to about 50/50 crypto and individual stocks and will be aiming to make that movement gradually over the rest of the calendar year

If you still have fud. 1% of your net worth in bitcoin would do until you do more research and can increase from there.

I’d go heavy into crypto now and plan to lock in some gains this year before the next crypto winter sets in.

As soon as I get my 2020 tax refund I'm dumping about 80% of it in crypto

Guess it's better than putting it into new rims at least
