Most players are in the league for only a handful of years so you are only talking about ~$100k the league is investing in a math even if the person maxes the 401k

We get 5% right off the bat and then 100% match on the first 5% we put in
I.e. Employee puts up 5, employer puts up 10

My most recent employer gave us 16.9% of your salary in a profit sharing plan with no self contribution. We got bought out though and now have much higher base salary, set your own 401k %, no match.

Sadly, I bet very little take advantage of this, if accurate.
Would be interesting to find out since the max contribution is what now? $18.5k? After taxes for an NFL player that may be ~$10k which is ~2% of league minimum salary

Company gives 2% then matches 50 cents per $1 up to 6%
We used to have a balling fully funded pension plan. I got hired right after they got rid of it. They legit told me on the phone it was a benefit only to apologize later

My company gives 2% regardless of contribution and 50% up to 4 percent. So if I put in 4% I get 4% from the company. Also, there is profit sharing up to 3%.

Certain large European oil company gives 2.5% of salary from year 1 - 4, 5% of salary from year 5 - 9, and 10% from year 10 on. Regardless of our personally contribution.

3% off the bat
100% match up to 5%
Discretionary match (typically between 3-5%)

We put 6% and company puts up 9%.
Almost as good as yours but not quite.
It's def. the best I've heard of in the food industry.

I think most of the majors are similar....I think Marathon is similar to what we have

I put up 6% and company puts up 9% (5% match throughout the year and 4% lump sum at the end)
Posted on 2/19/16 at 11:07 am to Rouge
I put in 4%, company matches the 4%. It also puts in 8% on top of that. Not bad, now if I can get a higher salary.

I think my company is a decent deal, but not not real sure. They give 50 cents on the dollar up to my $23,000 contribution.(over 50 catch-up)

This. First few years aren't great, but after year 9 it is very nice.
Plus pension, which at a minimum is 4%/year, again increasing by 2% every 5 years (based on age+experience).

I work for Riceland Foods. Ours is pathetic. .25% up to 4% max. New hires after 08/2009 aren't in the pension plan and they told us the 401K match would be increased to compensate us for having no pension. Hoser talk.

Not a 401k plan but the pension retirement plan I'm in (AZ state retirement system) matches 100% once you are fully vested at 10 years. They 100% match what you have in there at 10 years and then for all future contributions (ex: if I have 100k at 10 years I now have 200k).
I have no control over how much I contribute though. It's set by AZRS every year. Currently at 11% of what I make.

Ours is 100% match up to 5% and then a discretionary 4% in March if the company meets certain goals.
