I don't worry about paying my bills and contributing to retirement, but I also qualified for every recent stimulus, so there you go.

I qualified for stimulus as well. It was based on income not net worth. Similar to the recent story about billionaires paying relatively low taxes. Thankfully we don't get taxed on unrealized capital gains. Besides, the stimulus wasn't specifiacally targeted at the poors.

quote:Theoretically...if you think inflation is what CPI states it is. Cost of living is a bit more important when we are talking retirement, and that is well above the CPI number. Furthermore, it would have to outpace COL + my annual living expenses or I will have nothing 50 years from now.
Theoretically, the 2.5M would outpace inflation if you have it invested properly.

Yes, of course. I mostly base my numbers off the trinity study (with an added layer of conservatism); all of these things are factored in.

If by “financially well off” you mean I make just enough to pay my bills and have a little bit left over to pay for everyone’s EBT purple drank and Cheetos and the $90,000 Exkalade they have parked outside then, by golly just call me Mr Moneybags.

Does monopoly money count?
My family hates me. They wear Eat the Rich t-shirts on family game night.

Really depends on how you define that term. A better question may be at what age do you plan to retire comfortably and never have to work again, or did you get the stimulus last year.
I'm 46 now and planning to retire and travel with my wife at 55. It maybe sooner if some investments go better than expected or our business keeps growing and we can work ourselves out of it.

I'm not retiring tomorrow, but I'm extremely comfortable. Not to say I didn't have my fair share of lean years and ramen noodles, but I'm a bit older, make a good living and have invested wisely, so I'd guess I'm far ahead of the curve (in regard to the overall general population).

I live a quiet life here in Albuquerque. My meth lab coupled with my car wash has me on the path to retirement in 2 years.

My whole net worth is tied to a blue cube running a decentralized oracle network that no one understands and people think is a big scam
