Healthcare is obviously the biggest question mark here.
yes indeed
my plan is to give my business to the employees with the caveat that the company will keep me on the payroll so that it can pay my health insurance.
if they can keep it afloat then I should be ok

This is why I don’t see us truly retiring early. Just too many unknowns in terms of health care needs. Forget bacon, someone the the family needs to always be bringing home the insurance.

Completely agree. I could probably afford to retire today if it wasn't for healthcare. Instead, got another 10+ years to go b/c of health insurance needs.

Separate from health insurance, I was calculating our insurance / fixed expenses annually and it’s depressing.

Yes. Your 20s matter a lot in terms of compounding. Unfortunately, I wasted mine. I’ve made up some ground, but still kick myself for my behavior in the formative years.
The other thing that can be a big boon is marrying well and early. If you married at 24 and did a DINK until you hit 30, you’re pretty set. Marry wrong, and you’re in a hole.
Married at 27 but lived together since 24. Still Dinks and I turn 40 on Sunday.

I don’t want to know the number I spent on alcohol alone. I really enjoyed my 20’s, but most people do.

I want this on a bumper sticker or maybe an official TD Money Board Shirt. The background will just be an old old Tiger.
