What’s the play?
Eta: in theory more retail investors will gave access to the stock, which may drive the price up a bit. But with fractional shares already a thing il not sure how much of a short term play there is here.
The company itself hasn't changed.

Stock splits are a non event...the economics of Apple are unchanged with this announcement.

Can you buy tomorrow and take advantage of the split?
They are thinking price after split may be around $100 a share.
Do you load up at that price?

What’s the date of the split?
Posted on 7/30/20 at 3:49 pm to Covingtontiger77
The split is effective 8/24.
The price will literally be 1/4 of whatever it is on that day.

The play is the same as before...

Obviously the company is worth the same however the split will make the stock more affordable in the minds of many investors. Especially the Robinhood traders. I expect it to jump after the split. Possibly as much as 10-20% depending on how much it runs up prior to the split.

Basically a 4 for 1 sale.

Surprised Tesla hasn't announced a split. If they got back to around $100 the Robinhooders would be all over it.

They had a 7:1 split back in 2014.
I think Tesla and/or Amazon should split before Apple. Not sure the reasoning for apple to do this unless they are wanting more trade volume or retail investors

Buy more fractional shares on Robinhood!

Apple will jump 50% before the end of 2021. Might double again.

It was stated on CNBC that they want the stock to be more affordable to the retail investor.

dude it is time to sell the AAPL. It will be one of the greatest decisions of your lifetime. Almost as great as the time you decided to get the mullet cut in high school. That was great.

I've owned it since a few days after the split.

You’re forgetting the part where Mr. Perfect’s RH army “buys the dip” after the split, though.

Insane to think that Apple isn’t that far from $2t.
I remember not that long ago Apple and exxon had similar valuations.
