I found this link on YouTube of Dale Brown going after a player that fouled Shaq really hard. Anyone remember this? I was very young at the time.

Pretty sure he meant fouled. Suspected victim of autocorrect.

I was going to ask if it’s the Tennessee player that pulled Shaq down by the waist. And yep, that’s it.

I don’t think they even called a technical.

Yea was in the SEC tourney. I believe this was where the hack a shaq strategy was born.

I was at that SEC Tourney game in Birmingham. Had never seen anything like that scene before at the time.

yuuuup, just one of the reasons why Brown had no problem supporting Shaq to go pro after his Jr. season

Yep. I remeber watching that game. Groves was allowed to tackle Shaq the entire game.

How old are you GT1983, do you remember the game?

Tenn was getting away with murder in that game and the ref were not calling the fouls on Shaq near at all.

There is one play Shaq is going up to dunk and 4 Tenn. players are all holding him and there was not foul.

That is only 1 of many times that happened in the game.

Dale was rightly upset and called out the SEC on the refereeing in the game.

When Daddy Dale said that he supported Shaq going pro after what happened in this game, I thought he was playing to the media. Shaq was going pro no matter what or if Dale supported him or not. Dale always thought of his players first but this was funny when he said it.

No question - IMHO that was some virtue signaling.

Yep - Dale just playing the hype. He also told on himself
Any times about paying players because “his conscience” was getting him knowing all of those high level recruits were getting money and he would eventually get caught - which is what happened.

Dale got right in with his buddy Vitale because Vitale supported all of the cheaters in Valvano, K, Roy Williams, Dean Smith, Petino, etc.

If you sucked up to him, you were in. Brown was good for that.
