Go after TCU's or Baylor's D Coordinator immediately following their bowl games.

Doubt Venebles goes anywhere, but go after him also. Chief was great here, but we will be fine.

We had a good D before John Chavis, we'll have a good one after he's gone. I ain't worried.

The man could have handled his business like a man, but decided to do it like this. He probably knew he was gong to A&M last week, but decided to time it like this to frick us. He lied to recruits and players. He's a two faced piece of shite. Loyal my arse.

all these people talking about Chavis & loyalty should go talk to Ugo Amadi.

Chavis made that kid look terrible today.

Goodbye Chavis you were a top 5 paid assistant in the country and you demand more. Goodbye and enjoy getting your arse kicked in death valley next year.

Please tell me you're kidding....Baylor's D may look decent on paper, but it is honestly God awful.

It appears that everything transpired over the last few days and that Alleva may have been the problem. Don't think 7 days ago he was headed to A&M.

From the narrative being reported (in the media, not on here), I can't blame him. He carried Miles for the better part of the last 6 years and LSU isn't willing to give him some any kind of guarantee on his contract outside of the next 6 months, I don't think Chavis is the one not being loyal.

I want to hire Todd Grantham. He's had success at Georgia. I don't think Orgeron was ever a true DC, if I recall correctly.

To me, the big issue here isn't so much losing Chavis. It's (a) that something is so wrong in the program that a loyal guy like him would want to leave for a lateral position and (b) I have no faith in Alleva to make the next hire

This xeleventy-billion. Theres something going on behind the scenes we arent aware of.

As for the impact for LSU football, this cant be understated. aTm, division rival, now has one of the top DCs in the country recruiting in LSUs backyard.

On the bright side, we no longer have to worry about Myles Garrett as a pass rusher.

This is bad, he is a top 10 DC. I don't know why some of you are happy.

Just this year, Auburn and Miss St full on raped us. Bama drove down the field with no problem to tie the game and then win in OT. And then Notre Dame straight up abused us.

Chavis was past his prime and the D has been pretty pitiful despite this "#1 in SEC" nonsense.

that wasn't at all what the contract language was.

the language was that if Miles left, Chavis would get paid for the next 6 months and then his contract was void. Chavis didn't want that.

that would leave 2 options for LSU: Cave to Chavis and force a new HC to keep Chavis on as DC or pay a DC that was no longer coaching for the school.

Chavis basically wanted a guaranteed job for the length of the contract or to be paid for not working in the event Miles leaves. frick him.

being #1 in the SEC in defense in 2014 means you barely played adequate defense.

Yes, I think a program of LSU's stature is capable of attracting a solid DC who might even be an improvement over Chavis as the athletes are here.

Also it is better for LSU this happens now rather than during the prime time for 2016 recruiting. A solid DC should be in place by then--surely Miles knows better than to offer the position to Peveto. If he is named DC, then it will be a difficult struggle for LSU to land some of those highly rated prospects in the 2016 class.

I thank Chavis for his time here, but I'm not really sad to see him go.

It's going to be nice to have a DC actually on the side lines. Sometimes when things are not going right on D you need your DC on the side line to fire the players up.

Also Chavis has the most vanilla blitz package I had ever seen, hopefully the new DC remembers you are allowed to blitz with your safeties.

Grantham is a hot headed cancer, no way. And he was in hot water with UGA prior to bolting to Louisville. Who would willingly make that move?
