than LSU if Bama were replacing Saban at the end of this season? Here are some reasons maybe not...1)you're following arguably the greatest CFB coach of all time.2) you're instate recruiting base is not nearly as fertile as LSU's and you share it with Auburn 3)If you're name isn't Saban, winning Natty's at Bama is not a given. I think it's safe to say that the odds are more in favor of a new coach winning one at LSU than a new coach at Bama. The obvious argument there would be that Saban will leave the next guy fully loaded, in all liklihood. 4)While this is probably a stretch, I think the total package for football program at LSU is better than Bama's from facilities to gameday experience to state loyalty.

The first bullet far outweighs the rest. There's literally no place for the next Bama coach to go but down. As big as coaches egos are, I doubt anyone currently believes they could match Saban's success there. The next guy that comes to LSU has a very low bar from the perspective of whom he's replacing and the production there. (2019 not withstanding) Hope we find out soon!!

they border fla, Georgia and miss and have a national brand...I doubt any coach would worry about in state prospects when they recruit so well across the southeast and Texas

The guys with Bama Stockholm syndrome on this board will fight you tooth and nail to act like you’re being crazy but it’s a valid argument. I’m not sure if the LSU job is better because of Louisiana politics but I certainly don’t think Alabama is the #1 job BY FAR like everyone pretends. They’ve been pretty pedestrian without Bear and Saban in their recent history

Funny how people from central or south Florida call Jacksonville & the rest of North Florida “South Georgia” the same way South Louisiana people call North Louisiana “Southern Arkansas”.

The roster there compared to the roster everywhere else is not even in the same stratosphere. Any coach looking at that team would take that job. Who gives a crap if that next coach cannot sustain the expectations of the sidewalk necks at Bama or constantly being in Sabans shadow. You would get 3 years easy just based solely on the talent he has stocked there.

Since 1958, LSU has had 4 national title winning coaches and Alabama has had 3.

During that period they have had some awful coaches, as has LSU.

This is all bullshite. Bama is a winning machine. They're the Notre Dame of the modern CFB game.

Bear & Saban

Others are irrelevant and Saban was a gift.

See I think the opposite. I see things for what they are or at least thats what I tried to do here. Following Saban will be the tallest task any CFB coach in modern time will have in that regard. I was referecing the poll that was on the front page about LSU being the #2 job. If you can agree with their assessment about LSU being #2, what I'm stipulating isn't outlandish at all. My original scenario was if both schools had an opening at the end of this season, which job(counting the whole I've got to replace the GOAT thing) would be more enticing to a prospective coach?

Now if you want to argue that UGA is a better job and LSU is no better than 3rd, that's a different discussion.

Anyway...as usual context matters and several responses didn't bother taking in that context. Seemed like a better thread than a "Who will replace O" thread. Maybe not...

Not so much with the transfer portal in play now. We thought LSU would be a self-sustaining juggernaut for years to come after '19 but CEO and here we are...
