Yes, the image of having one of the worst basketball teams among major conference schools is much more preferable. Perhaps Woodward should consult Pat Forde and Dan Wetzel before making any future hires. We don’t want those losers to be upset.

I don’t think there is a number small enough to quantify how little of a shite LSU fans would care about their “image” while watching their team compete for a national championship

Real house fiancé’s of Baton Rouge would be a big hit on Bravo.

You have that same opportunity right here in front of you in men’s basketball and you think it’s more reasonable to keep a HC with ZERO history of major conference success because….?

...because you are not going to write a buyout check and no one else is, either.

In football we had a top 20 roster before Kelly walked in the door. And we are viewed as a blue blood. In women's BB the competition is below boys high school level.

In men's BB we are a middle of the pack program historically, and we lost our entire roster.

You are a fool if you think that LSU is going to hire a guy who was just fired from his job for smacking his fiancee around.

The fact that the charges have been dropped means literally nothing. Note that nobody is saying it didn't happen - he strangled and bit his fiancee, in "self-defense."

All that says to me is that it's going to happen again.

Please explain to me how paying 15ish mil to McMahon and then having to pay maybe 3+ mil a year to Beard is the cheaper route?

Another example of "Haste makes waste".
If Woody had waited to fire Wade, this fiasco of a season would have been avoided, he could now fire Wade and hire Beard.

If Woody had waited to fire Wade, then the NCAA would have made good on it's "lack of institutional control" accusation and the football program would have been nuked.

Can he sue Texas? How does that work?

Sure. You can sue anyone for anything.

But while the criminal case has been dropped primarily due to the victim recanting.

There are photos and the original police report.

While it may be difficult to pursue a criminal penalty there is a much lower bar to cross. Beard would not open the door to discovery in any civil action.

Not sure about before, but after this, Chris Beard isn't a SW type of hire.

And be shouldn't be. The dude is a POS.

Also, I'd imagine Texas didn't just fire him off media reports. I'm sure they saw something there.

So you want a school that is digging out from Title IX scandals and coach violations to hire a new coach that choked out his fiance... after we pay current MBB coach $15 mil to leave.

This why most of you on here are not in charge of anything. Hopefully you are not pro-creating.

Beard is a POS who beat his fiance.

The fact that the fiance doesn't want to press charges does not make him innocent, nor does it mean it didn't happen.

People make mistakes and if Beard can show this is a one-time incident, he will get another chance.

But it sure AF should not be with LSU at this time.

Will Wade is an idiot and embrarrased the university. What Beard did is FAR worse.

What makes you think Brian Kelly would leave Notre Dame while they’re in the playoffs to go to dumpster fire cultural disaster LSU after 2 consecutive .500 seasons under Ed Orgeron?

Because the season before those 2, we had arguably the best team in CFB history, at a program that in a football mad state with a ton of local talent.

None, absolutely none of those things apply to basketball. Historically we are a below average program with not a lot of local talent.

This may the most truthful, honest thing ever said on tRant. Bravo.

I mean it says a lot about why our state is so corrupt and so bassackwards, but hey, we gots ourselves a good basketball team!

Big difference between being innocent and charges dropped.
His fiance's financial advisor told her that killing the golden goose while she doesn't have great earning potential wasn't in her best interest if she likes a certain lifestyle.

Charges were dropped because Beard's significant other declined to press charges. The coach isn't absolved of credible allegations of violence.

Yea, Beard may be the answer to revive a moribund basketball team. But what about his temper? And how does LSU get out of honoring McMahon's 7 year contract?

This, chaps, is a sticky wicket.

Regardless of self-defense or not, he was beating a woman & made her feel like she should call the cops.

So she changed her story & the charges were dropped.. he’s still a woman beater.

This thread has done one thing clearly and that’s out the Fat Scotty dick riders. You’ve got people trying to tell you that McMahon is the better route than Beard using “morality” of all things lmfao. These people are football fans mind you and they’re using a moral argument here. The hypocrisy has gone off the charts.
