Woke up and have no clue what the state of this program is

Where are we as a team?
Where are we headed as a program?
You can say you didn't expect a title in year 1 but I don't think you expected to have 2 losses in early October.
And then from just an eye test standpoint, we're nowhere near these elite teams.
I watched some of the Georgia / Bama game and it looked like they were playing a different sport.
My P&G glasses are off and idk how to assess where we're truly at as a program.

Kinda what I was thinking. The loss sucks yea, but where do we even go from here? It just doesn’t feel like another 8-4 type year with the amount of investment is going to have anybody excited going into next season

Every game has been entertaining. We have lost twice in close games to mid-tier SEC programs. That is a huge improvement from last year. People who expected a one year turnaround into a top three team were deluding themselves. I posted that weeks ago to furious disagreement, but it’s true.

$50m for a team that is closer to 7-5 than 10-2 is not what I was expecting at the midway point of the season.

if this is how we play the rest of the year, we should have kept BK. This looks like another 7-5 or 8-4 year. We are a middle of the SEC team. This team is NOT elite.

We still suck.
Maybe next year.
Maybe next year.

How in the frick is watching our offense having to result to trick plays to score and our defense not being able to stop an average offense "entertaining"?

It’s not though. You can build a team very quickly in the portal. We’re going to load up in the portal next year too.

Perhaps consider watching until the end of the season and making a call at that time. We’re not changing coaches or getting new players between now and then.

Completely agree here, First Blood. Said this repeatedly last night.
That said, you do realize Alabama and Georgia have been pretty good for over a decade, right?
This is exactly why anyone expecting playoffs this year were setting themselves up for disappointment.
Yeah that doesn’t excuse letting a game get away against Kentucky, but this was clearly always going to be a work in progress.
It sucks, but it’s part of the process after floundering as a program for damn near 15 years.

The 7th best program in the conference with one of the most expensive coaching staffs and rosters.
2019 has us thinking we’re way more important than we really are as a program.

Look no further than a number of hot programs that don’t have long histories of excellence. For a blue blood like LSU there has to be a program culture that serves as the foundation of your principles.
Say what you want but perennial powerhouses plug and play and let their culture fill in the gaps.
I hope this is an aberration and lane builds something to be proud of. Last night was an abomination

You don’t think we can improve on that in the years ahead? Has Lane not improved every team he’s coached?

The state of the program is average. That’s it.
The sooner fans accept it the better
The coach. The players. The AD. None of it matters. Nobody sees LSU on their schedule and gets concerned anymore. “Oh that could be a tough game” is about all anyone will say. When OSU, UGA, Bama etc roll in to town it’s “we’re about to get stomped”
LSU is an average program. Let’s quit pretending they should be mentioned among the elites.

We are no elite, not blue blood, not in the SEC top 3. Maybe a cut above a typical Vandy, Moo U, or UK team historically. More like Auburn. I think LSU plays streaky hot and cold. Always has since the days of Chollie Mac. I been watching over the decades.

Indiana says hi. In the past even the top tier coaches would have to be given a few seasons to turn around a team; in today’s college football where spending 40 million on players doesn’t fix the same old problems we’ve seen for years (offensive line) it’s not really acceptable.
The coaching has also been meh, which I really didn’t expect with the resources given to Kiffin. Last nights pussy move (a bad oline is the coaches fault, you have to go for that) on 4th down was really disappointing.
