Better to keep your starters on normal rest schedules, IMO.

I think it depends on what kind of plan they’re putting in front of him. there aren’t a lot of schools where you can go and walk 32% of the batters you face and get a ton of playing time.
If the staff is saying “give us an offseason to coach you up, we think if you do x,y,z you’re command will improve and you’ll be a huge part of next season and they make “xyz” seem reasonable and doable then he may buy in and stay

Jay shouldn’t have to pitch Jump against Wofford. Their schedule was extremely weak and only played one game against a Power 5 school (L at Georgia 18-6).
