With this defense, MVB would just need to be average

And we are in the playoff. We don’t need a JD or JB just need someone to effing throw a deep ball and pull a read option. And if Sloan is capable call some designed QB draws vs three man fronts.

This is so eerily similar to 2023, and we’ll be crying for years about how we would’ve easily won a national title in 2023 and in 2025 had Brian Kelly simply made the changes that hundreds of thousands of fans saw needed to be made but he was too stubborn to admit there was a problem.

Average mobile MVB is better than what we have had.

A guy that can tuck it and run for 6 or 7 on third downs here or there would go a long way

I’m not so sure this defense is as good as we all think. Achilles heel from last year appears to still be there (mobile QBs). Appears to be good against regular running attacks. Pass D is ok. Not a lot of pressure generated by DL. Blitz is effective, but leaves some vulnerability.

MVB’s ability to add another dimension to our ground game is critical. But, how good of a passer is he really?

Maybe. We don’t really know. Nuss was above average and we barely beat a bad Clemson team. I think they’re really good but this defense has only faced one above average offense so far.

What changes during the 2023 season could BK have made that would have easily lead to a national championship?

I'd still rather a healthy Nuss though.

By putting it this way, does that mean MVB will be starting next Saturday night?

That would be a valid concern, given that Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebs converted a nauseating number of third and fourth down plays last Saturday. And their was nothing exotic about any of the conversions: generally short quick-hitting passes, very "vanilla" calls executed without any defensive resistance at all.

Dont kid yourself, this defense isnt what you think it is. Ole Miss receivers were running wide open most of the night. The final series where we absolutely had to have a stop, is a clear indicator of things to come

And MVB left Moo St for a reason. He was (1-7) while there, and they are now (4-1) without him

You do the math

This is just incorrect on so many levels.

1. The defense was gassed because they were on the field so much. Ole Miss first two series were 3 and out. Our defense is elite
2. Miss. State is a completely different team this year. MVB would be playing with better players here and is a year older

In addition, he actually looked good for a true freshman in some really big games, especially on the road at Ga.

Put on his game against Georgia last year. His deep ball was on the money.

The defense didn’t do that much better agsinst Ole Miss than our D did last year.

MVB is more suited to the current style of offense Sloan and BK want to run.

For Nuss and our O-Line, a Les Miles offense would probably be better. Get under center and stop having the running back take the ball 5 yards deep waiting for a hole to open up that never does.
