All time.
LSU has been squarely top 15 for a while now. Definitely a new blood in the sport, but not quite in that top 10 all time level.
If we win one more national championship, we have 5, which ties us with Nebraska and Miami and puts us ahead of Texas.
The only schools that would be ahead of us are the traditional blue bloods minus Texas and Nebraska.
In terms of heismans, we are now behind Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.
This is elite company. LSU never gets the same reverence that any of these other schools get, but when it comes to straight numbers, we are with them absolutely. And the majority of our success is recent, not 75+ years ago.

All easily. Plus we were hanging around with FSU and Florida as well as some other new blood programs who like us really took it to a new level the past 25 or so years. Georgia right now is where LSU was in the 2000s effectively. A couple of nattys and an ancient heisman.
Again this is a thread on all time programs. My point is LSU has surpassed simply being a flash in the pan who is performing above its historic mean. Which before 2019, it looked like we were. When you count the total hardware, it’s up there with the all time greats of the sport.

LSU is already there. A top 8-10 program of all time however you wanna slice it.
LSU also has 5 National Championships. 1908 is recognized by the NCAA. If Bama, UCF, and USC can claim illegitimate nattys, LSU can claim a rightful 5th.

I get Nebraska has had a great past. But the past 25 years they have been absolutely horrendous. I don’t know how much longer they can hold on to a top 10 spot.
LSU is easily a top 10 program of talk time.

Easily. Unless you’re counting teams like Harvard, Army, Nebraska and Penn State that used to be great but suck now.

The point of this post has been missed. Nebraska is only talked about today because their all time numbers are top 10. LSU reaching this all time echelon is like a cheat code for relevancy if we were to dip again. It’s basically a guarantee we always stay in the conversation. It sustained Michigan during the 2010s. It’s sustained Notre Dame for 30 years. It’s keeping people talking about Nebraska and Miami if they even have a shred of competitiveness early in the season.
That’s my overall point. Statistically we are basically right on that doorstep rather than being simply new money.

Definitely big in the atmospheric view of ‘blue bloods’

Omg are we almost top 10? Golly gee.

Miami was only relevant for about 25 years. But they were dominant in stretches.
Florida is definitely behind LSU as well.
We are on that top 10 cusp with Tennessee (historically a top 10 Blueblood, but been irrelevant for 25 years), FSU, and UGA.

We should also claim 2011 as two of the selection services had us #1 (A&H was one, can’t remember the other). We beat the #1, #4 and #5 team in the AP poll.
We had more wins than any other P5 team as well as the highest winning percentage. We beat the champions of the Orange,
Sugar, Rose and Cotton Bowls.
Obviously, we were screwed out of winning the BCS title by what has now been exposed as a completely corrupt ESPN led cabal set on controlling college football.
Mouth breathers and boot lickers will downvote, but we’ve seen with 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020 and now this season what a complete farce the idea of a legit system is.

Prior to the BCS those were clown championships. Champions voted by assholes like the ones who didn't put Daniels in their top 4 for the Heisman.

Agree completely. People seem to be missing what you are saying.

LSU ranks #11 in the all-time AP poll. We're ahead of Miami.
