Will Woody do what Woody does and double Jay's pay?

No doubt a natty gets rewarded with an extension and a bump. I thought what Woody did for Ed O following the championship was unnecessary and excessive. But Jay Johnson seems like a safer guy to invest in.

That’s an interesting question. In the past I think he would have but after seeing Ole Miss and Miss St. totally collapse after winning CWS it might change things.
I don’t think this will happen with Jay but it’s definitely something to think about.

Pretty sure all of this is worked out in contract details minus extensions. But salary structure and bonuses for hitting certain metrics are common in modern day contracts.
Special Ed is the outlier, IMO. He said all the right stuff and was doing the right things and was rewarded for his success. Then he discovered bimbos and took a shite.

You've observed a trend? So this trend you observed over two national championship coaches showed you he doubles their pay? So Ed Orgeron's 50% increase in salary and Kim Mulkey's performance bonuses that were in her original contract are doubling their pay in your world?

In woody/o’s defense, o was getting paid relatively peanuts because he was an unproven commodity. He salary was raised to comparable with other NC winning/contending coaches. I don’t mind that. Extending his contract was the mistake.
Johnson is already the upper tier so he won’t get doubled. He’ll definitely get a bump which he deserves. And hopefully an extension.

Smoke won a lot but didn’t win the big one, Manieri won one and had success, and now Jay. LSU baseball is it, pay him his incentives and extension, idk about doubling his pay.

Yeah Kim isn't getting a double in pay and neither is Jay Johnson. Kim already makes nearly $3M a year and Jay is making about $1.25M and will be getting an extra $300k in incentive bonuses this year.

It's not that. It's that we desperately need facility upgrades in baseball and basketball but all our money is tied up in current coaching staff salaries and buyouts for previous coaches. I'm glad we have the coaches that we do, but there is a negative to it as well

Agreed raising O wasn’t all that bad, it’s always the other parts of the contract that Woody has a weak spot on.
Also with all the things flying he didn’t get one penny off the buyout. Now some of that could be it was better to pay him out full and stop him from going elsewhere

And if Woodward didn’t reward his coaches after winning a championship it would be very hard to get quality coaches to come to LSU.
