The NCAA would be crazy to put major penalties on Wade. He would sue them and kill them in discovery. If they had anything concrete on him, this would have been resolved against him long ago. The NCAA doesn't want their dirty laundry hung out in public. They would have to show all of the information they have collected on other programs and coaches, the unequal justice, and how they have selectively enforced their own stupid regulations. This is only my opinion. We will hopefully soon have resolution of this sword hanging over LSU and Wade.

I knew about the assistant coaches. Forgot about Gottfried.

No matter what the IARP’s decisions ultimately are in LSU’s and Wade’s cases, they are not truly independent. The NCAA has its hands all over every one of these investigations.

And yet… so that means Wade was NEVER going to get a show cause and it was “window dressing” knowing they had nothing.

They made the NOA strong enough to give Woody what he needed and wanted in order to get rid of Wade.

Knowing they couldn’t support it.

LSU will also not be receiving near the sanctions people claim will happen (no where near worst case scenario). So thanks Scott!

So, you're saying Scott saved us from worse sanctions?

If this were realistic why haven't any of the previous coaches who've received sanctions done it already? Come on now.

STFU dramatic ho. The heat is off. They severed ties with him which is better for the university overall. You worried about missing the tourney and or the game he would have lost in the tourney? Staph whining count

The key question is could there be a universe in which LSU hires Wade back?

Yes. One in which Woodward gets fired first

Would that be the same IF LSU had kept WW?

Obviously not. The day he was fired people in the know were saying the NCAA really wanted Wade, not LSU. I don’t think anyone thought Wade would come away unscathed, but the outcome wouldn’t have been the same if LSU just kept moving along.

Yeah, the guy who has three sports on the verge of title contention and most others doing well to very good is going to get fired because of a bad year and possibly a bad hire in basketball. Ok

Woodward won’t have any significant backlash for this Wade fiasco. We don’t even know that he pulled the lever on this - he could (and probably did) have had his hand pushed to fire Wade to reduce LSU’s risk profile. But backing Wade for years only to get rid of him less than a season before he’s completely cleared is idiotic to say the least. LSU fumbled this one for sure. I doubt I’ll care about basketball for a long time, the Wade decision destroyed this program

You wouldn’t know if it happened. It’s not exactly open to the public.

That’s what isn’t being acknowledged, and unfortunately there’s no way we will ever know what the NCAA would have done. The risk (“lack of institutional control”?) far outweighed the reward (winning basketball games) here.

The current NCAA is toothless and has NO POWER over a top brand like LSU. Several equal or lesser brands have told them to stick it where the sun don't shine, and they promptly went and stuck it where the sun don't shine.

I've said it several times, and am CONVINCED Scott did his in law a favor by relieving some pressure off Emmert who's been trashed constantly by the media.

If there's no relationship there, I think Wade is still coaching, and we're still winning.

The football deal is what pressed LSU's hand in all of this. LSU had to sacrifice Wade and NCAA got their man from the FBI scandal.
This is what happened.

It was all about LSU football not being popped with sanctions.

LSU Basketball was sacrificed on the Altar.

I was at LSU so long that I made a lot of contacts internally that led to more contacts that are still there today.

In addition, Mrs.Semjase, while still in Houston, used to work for one of the Shaw Group HR Managers. (THAT Shaw headed by Richard Gill RIP) When we were in Baton Rouge, he helped us out tremendously. He was from Starkville and loved LSU/SEC football. I got to know him and many of the the Shaw Big Whigs.

They all loved my dedication and the fact I had such an extended time at LSU playing in TGBFTL. If they like you and know that you really love LSU, they'll give you inside information. Those contacts are still there today in 2023. (Even though I got tired of the entire LSU Game Day Experience and we relocated to East Central Florida)
