This is the one thing that Blake Baker’s LSU Defenses have struggled with the most. Will this be the year our Defense finds a way to stop an athletic QB from running all over us?

Hopefully practicing against Kiffin/Leavitt will be somewhat more helpful than Sloan/Nuss in that regard.

if we stay healthy. We were also missing Whit Weeks when we played a lot of those teams

What DC doesn't struggle against a mobile quarterback?

3 reasons for hope.

1) Dline much better athletes than what we’ve had. Much better lateral movers.

2) a pair of LBs who can run and have seen a ton of ball

3) practicing against a real offense that has a QB run game threat.

I think we’ll be a lot better because
1. Practicing against a Nuss less offense where you are kind of relaxed against a Nuss offense due to lack of threat
2. We were basically running a 4-3 defense with Perkins at Star. Having Spears at the Star position will allow for more speed and athleticism.
3. Last year with injuries we had West Weeks and Dahvon Keys playing large roles. Easy upgrade in athletic ability from last year to this year.

Helps having better DEs and safeties. (No disrespect to Haulcey whatsoever)

Lots of things will have to be different. The D has zero chance against this scheme last year.

Let the DE's know that if they EVER crash down the line of scrimmage on the RB they are going to the bench. Put another one in until someone gets it!

Can he do it again? I don't talk much trash on your board. But I dare Baker to stack the box.

With Spears at Nickel/Star and a healthy Whit; I think this team will be fine.

Have to win the LOS. We finally have a DE (Princewill) that can get home to the QB.

Having more athleticism in the middle of D will help… Dottery, Whit, Spears over Keys, West, & Perk

I always wonder if football minds from offense and defense ever get together and try to work out kinks is gameplanning against each other.

I would add a fourth - much better safety play. I think having the other pieces in play (DL, LB) will allow the new (arguably better)safeties the freedom and flexibility to vastly improve our ability to contain these type QB’s.

Came to say this. The way he penned up Johnny Football was masterful.

Hold on against Bama in 12 and 14 and he’d be the GOAT DC.
