Why haven’t we seen Frazier at RT?

I like Cam Wire he seems to be a good teammate but he was awful Sunday. I don’t get why we aren’t trying a first team all freshman tackle out at that position instead of playing him inside at guard. Getting my first good look at him during the game he’s got the obvious tackle build to him meanwhile you have two absolute monster humans in Shorts and Bradford that should be able to push people around in the run game. I just didn’t get the starting lineup. You’d also be putting a redshirt senior in Shorts and a Junior in Bradford next to Dellinger who is new at his position so their experience can help him too. Hopefully against Southern they try a new combination because SEC DE are going to eat Wire alive. I know he’s dealt with chronic knee issues maybe he’s a step slower and that’s all it takes.

Dellinger balled out at center.

Problem is he messed up the timing on several plays with his snaping.

He will improve in this area. At least they figured out the center position for the next 2 years.

Go look at the skycam version of the game. It gives you a good view of the Olines play. Wire got trucked a lot.

I would still be trying to solve the RT position.

I really thought Marcus Dumervil would be our future RT before Frazier came along. Bardford and Shorts need to go be playing inside. No matter what it’s clear Wire just isn’t the answer out there. He actually played a lot better at RG than he did at RT.

I would hope the coaches are giving both Dumervil and Marlon Martinez serious looks at right tackle, or even guard if Frazier can handle the right tackle spot.

Dillinger to left guard, Turner to center, and Frazier to right tackle. Cam Wire out of the starting lineup. Not a rumor.

Is Marcus Dumervil related to NFL Elvis Dunervil?

Link? Was this announced? If it was not, it is still a rumor.

I wouldn't be surprised. This is the game to try a different combination if you want to do so.

Also, I would be interested to know how much live action the starting OL got against the starting DL in camp? If LSU's DL was projected to be one of the best DLs in the country then, presumably, some of the individual weaknesses we saw the other night should have been exposed in practice, right? FSU has a solid DL, but I can't believe they are physically that much more superior to LSU's DL (if at all). Yet, there several occasions where the FSU DL just physically beat the LSU OL. Of course, coaches always have to walk the fine line of getting good reps in practice while minimizing the risk of injury.

Regardless, LSU is going to struggle to have success if the OL plays the way it played on Sunday going forward. If the coaches think a different combination COULD yield better results they have to try to figure that out now.

Frazier was also pretty bad Sunday night. He got manhandled some by the bigger DLs. Maybe he'd have more success on the outside but it wasn't a pretty game for him either after watching the sky cam view.

I think this is why you will see him move to RT. Not all guys that are pure tackles can make the move inside to guard. I like:

Campbell,Dellinger,Turner,Bradford,Frazier

I agree this is a game that you can see how this works out but also you have to be careful because it is Southern.

Wire has proven that he hasn't improved one iota while at LSU. When I saw #5, a lb from FSU I think, put two hands in Wire's chest and Wire went completely backward with his back on the ground....that was enough for me to never want to see him on the field again. I'd rather play a freshman walk on than watch that weakness in an LSU uniform again. He simple refuses to even attempt to block the defensive player directly in front of him on passing plays. It's like he is blind. Sit him for the sake of our QB's health please.

It’s a good question from the outside. There must be some reason as he was moved to RG as soon as he got here. Even with RT being unsettled up until the last week or 2 of camp, Frazier at RT was never discussed publicly. But there’s no question Wire has got to go. Whether that’s moving Shorts to LG and Frazier to RT (what I expect them to do) or going back to their original lineup of (from left to right) Campbell, Shorts, Dellinger, Frazier, Bradford or putting Jones at RT or at 1 of the guard spots and moving Frazier to RT or back to RG with Bradford at RT. Regardless, I think Wire’s the odd man out and either Shorts or Jones will replace him and they’ll shuffle accordingly.
