No it wasn’t bozo. Even at our worst still found ways to beat state. I was a student during this era. I remember it vividly.g” Great game, nothing to brag about after Saban made a new standard.

2000 was one of the funnest years for Tiger Stadium

It really was. Looking back, no one knew that would be the start to our golden era of football. Saban started to keep all of the Louisiana kids home and we became one of the best programs in the country. The Bama and Tennessee games stand out, but the Miss State game was awesome because my dad knew the strength coach at state and we got to go in their locker room and on the field pregame with them. I was decked out in LSU gear as a 14 year old and loved every second of it.

I wonder if LSU is forever spoiled because of the 3 modern titles. I think we have an issue now where the stadium is actually too big, and the Average Joe crazy fan can’t afford to go to every game. Add in that our fanbase is spoiled and goes all out for maybe 2-3 games a year, and you have a less intimidating Tiger Stadium.

The stadium is too big now and basically every game is on TV. We are spoiled, but it happens to every fan base with success. There is nothing like the experience when you're hungry for success and a championship. Those times were special.

Don't get me wrong, Tiger Stadium on a bad night is still good. And at times, it's still the best there is. Bama 2022 was just two seasons ago and that was as awesome as it gets for any stadium out there, past or present.

It truly was deafening. It was so loud, it actually was painful at times, and I had to put my fingers in my ears to muffle the noise.

Well, we didn't always find ways to beat State. John Bond tormented LSU, and State had a stranglehold on LSU for a short time.

I remember the Bama game and I have grass from the North Endzone to prove it.

That was a great win. MSU had already beaten the 2 teams that would eventually play for the SEC title. LSU was down 14 going intot he 4th.

I just wish we’d go back to painting our end zones like those…

This. Tiger Stadium is at its best when the fans are hungry. That’s why the 2022 Bama game and the 2022 and 2024 Ole Miss games are some of the loudest I’ve ever been to.

I was living on the east coast at the time. I think this game went past mid-night. It was awesome. The second half of the 2000 Peach Bowl beat-down of GT was also pretty great

It was a GREAT strategy from Saban. State had some monsters on Dline. Big big boys.

Saban came into the game wanting to run. We got down by we stayed with the run.

By the 4th quarter, those big boys were gassed. We scored at and of third and 21 in the 4th.

It was a great game. If I recall correctly we ran it all over them the second half.

I remember being shocked at how effective LSU was running against State that night, who had come into that game as the #1 rushing defense in the country. LSU tacked on ~250 yards on the ground.

Now did Toefield cross the goalline with the football on his first TD? It looked like he let go of the ball before he crossed the plane
