He will show us again what a poised QB who is a film room rat can do with Cam Cameron's offense.

He will show us that a capable QB can help both the OL and the running game. (with proper protection adjustments, quick reads, and an ability to complete a forward pass)

Our OL will look considerably less sucky against MSU, I predict, and this with the knowledge that the MSU DL is much better than our first two opponents.

He will lead LSU to enough wins ... for Les to keep his job.

He will....

Etling or not, he's gone without winning the SEC West.

so whats the curse? i think the curse will be that he will throw some interceptions but its a price youre willing to live with to actually have a decent passing game.

This team, is still, IMO, a steady QB away from the NC.

Etling looks the part through 3 quarters. I hope he keeps progressing, we win the NC and we keep Les until he retires.

Don't forget that Brennan will come in next year, sit for one season behind Etling, and be battling for the starting job in 2019.

I don't hope for losses because we still have a chance at the SEC CG and the playoff.

But sometimes short term pain is required for long term gain. If our SEC hopes are over, this season will already be a failure and it's simply a matter of getting Les out the door, so I won't cry if we lose a couple more games at the end of the season to help that happen

Remember, Mike Shula was 10-2 at Alabama in 2005. If he'd have gone 10-2 again in 2006 (instead of 6-6), Bama might have kept him and never hired Saban.

To be clear, I'm all for Les staying if he can get out of a QB's way, and also do the needful on special teams: Fire Peveto and bring back Joe Robinson, who is now at TTech.

I was a posiTiger for Les for a long time, but he lost me for good last November. I think we can do better. Etling may save his job. I will enjoy the ride, if so. Otherwise, I won't lose any sleep over it while I stalk Tom Herman.

Well, I'd be ok with this considering the only way he keeps his job would be to win SEC, which in all likelihood means beating Bama and Ole Miss and then whoever is in the East. Do all that and, even with 2 losses, LSU has a shot of the playoff.

Down side is, if they make the playoff, you have at least another 3 years before they can justify canning him again....

Yeah replacing a coach is so fricking easy. Look at Florida after Spurier and then later after CUM or Texas after Mac Brown.

If Les/Cam have LF and can mix things up with him, Guice and DW, they can keep the defense on their heels and dice them up with what LSU has. Spread the d out and let them get the ball in space, rip it up the middle, and let DE torch them across the middle to Desean. The possibilities could be endless with the weapons Miles has at his disposal.

No doubt Aranda's defense will do it's job to keep them down, but if we can let them get some rest by moving the chains, State has no chance.

Key to that is not being too predictable on offense. That's never been a virtue of Les', but with a full stable and a smart qb, it could be poison to the dawgs.

That, imo, is the ONLY way we'll get on State and not let them up. People will stop talking about how shitty the qb situation is at LSU, and start getting their arse stomped.

We have a smart qb that can use all the weapons, if his coaches allow it, assuming his line decides to protect him.

Come on Les, let it all hang out.

Oh then I guess we should just never replace Miles, since you cited examples at 2 schools. Your philosophy is a perfect recipe for paralysis and simply condones mediocrity.

I choose to not accept mediocrity and strive for excellence. If the next coach doesn't pan out, then we fire him too and get another one.

But the status quo is not acceptable.

"The Danold"? That's horrible.

Not that I like it, but "The Etsiah" has been catching on over on the SEC Rant.
