Why are people shocked at the overpay? Did they forget who the AD is?

Woody overpays for everything. That’s how he convinces people to come.

He also is the one that gave House an extension after one not awful year.

That said, I think Baker will be a really good hire and help this team re-establish its defense’s identity.

Mizzou was about to pay him $2 million so if you wanted him what we paid was the price. It wasn’t over paying that was the market for him.

I love people who complain about over paying for coaches. I always ask them, "Is it your money?"

I am not against the price of the contract. It is what it is. I just meant that no matter who was hired, Woody was paying a big amount. He can’t help himself.

Seriously who gives a shite? College football is big business. Unless you're a big donor why do you care?

Get overbid and we are cheap/woody sucks. Pay too much, man that’s a lot for so and so… if the big money donors will write the check, why do you care?

I agree but there are people on this board that don’t believe that big donors pay the coach’s salaries. They think it comes from parking passes and ticket fees lol

They paid what the market was for Baker. Again, if Woody low-balled and got outbid, some would be crying that LSU is cheap. No win situation.

Do you also ask when we get outbid for a recruit we wanted, I wonder if we could’ve used some of that dead money we are spending because of Woody’s bad contracts to have met the going rate? Woody more than quadrupled House’s salary and no one else would’ve offered House 1/2 what Woody gave him.

He pays what is required. He was paying what it took to get the guy. We outbid Mizzou. This is modern college football.

Coaches are now at a super premium, coordinators are at a premium. Admittedly, Woodward was part of the group of ADs who had a hand in that.

Go cheap and you are likely to get a bad coordinator or stumble upon a hidden gem then end up in a bidding war to keep him. Either way, you are paying.

Do you want the coaches who are believed to be the best in the business or not? Because if you want the best, yes you absolutely are going to have to pay for them. Some of you foolishly believe we can have it both ways. It's simply not the case.

Agreed. Good things cost money and great things cost lots of money.

Never heard of a cheap lambo.

Couple hundred brown bags in the back of Phil’s solves a lot.
