Bingo.

Whenever these threads pop up I wonder what the hell point these people are even trying to make ? Woodward is obviously very good at cultivating support to get funds needed to compete for coaches.

Yet somehow this is a bad thing. Only on TD.

Seriously, what the frick are they complaining about exactly????

They are coaching a freaking sport for a living. I really have little sympathy for them. If they don’t like what comes with the job, then get one without those “issues”. Again, coaching salaries are o it of hand and are partly to blame for ruining college sports. These salaries are what gave these athletes a leg to stand on in their argument to get paid. So blame coaches and their agents/greed along with the ADs that keep caring only about money for ruining al these things. They are to blame.

I kind of get the gist of what you are trying to say. Just poorly written.

Look, when LSU paid Nick, everyone thought they were crazy. This is the world we live in. Sorry to have to tell you this. You seem very unhappy with this.

I love people who complain about over paying for coaches. I always ask them, "Is it your money?"

This is stupid logic and mostly from boomers who think they know all the answers. Money is essential to having a good program. Many of these fans are paying to see a product that is a result of making the right hires. No money, no hires. Wasted money, less money for good hires.

“It’s not your money” is just as stupid of an argument as “why do you care Myles Brennan was injured for the season, it’s not your arm.”

Dumb.

Exactly. Woodward is investing in LSU’s reputation as a destination school willing to pay top dollar for top assistants. That’s what we want folks. We don’t want to be a “thrifty” school. Look at Miss State in that regard.

No. It’s not poorly written, you just think people coaching a sport should have their lifestyle accounted for by ridiculous proportions but doctors on call, firefighters on call, etc don’t make such sacrifices.

It’s pathetic how much over glorification the “sacrifices” these coaches and their families make. It’s gotten out of hand and some of you glorify them beyond any reproach.

I appreciate the job they do, but when they are getting paid $3 million to be fired and could choose to never work again for coaching a “game”, I really have no sympathy.

Not at programs like LSU. What is currently being paid is nothing to the people actually paying it.

Do you also ask when we get outbid for a recruit we wanted, I wonder if we could’ve used some of that dead money we are spending because of Woody’s bad contracts to have met the going rate?

I care more about facility upgrades. Could we have decent restrooms in TS if we weren't tied to all these high dollar contracts? Could we get rid of the bleachers in the Box? Could we replace the PMAC?

The more you type, the worse it gets. You are doing a bad job, of fighting for your cause.
Why would you bring other jobs into this conversation?
It’s because they are doing a job, you can’t do? Also making good money?

I get what you’re saying, but the way you’re saying it is strange. Mediocre contracts attract mediocre coaches. Would you want to be enjoying a game in TS taking a leak in a nice new bathroom while we get beaten to death on the field? There is a chicken vs egg element, but facilities are going to take a back seat to the on field entertainment. Again, I agree with you that upgrades need to be made. Just not made by getting cheap on the field.

You were the one that talked about the sacrifices these coaches and their families make. I did not bring that in. You act like it is some unselfish act on their part.

You made these salaries based on your friends and what they sacrifice for the profession, not me. That is the point. Lots of careers lead to moving around and change for families and most are a hell of a lot more noble than sports coaching, so you started that.

Again, I said I get why they paid that much because of an inflated market. I said why anyone is shocked that Woody would pay this much because he always pays a really high amount whether it’s market or not. Then, you have people like you trying to act like the coaches are martyrs of some sort.

Gotta love it.

I mean, you can say that’s what he’s doing (he’s not, he’s just trying to get the best coach), that’s not the question here though. I’m not saying he’s a bad hire because I don’t know, and not all of them will pan out, the post I was responding to is the “hur durrr it’s not your money don’t worry about it.”

Losing money or making bad hires affects the program. Fans have every right to be annoyed if LSU keeps spending top dollar for shitty coordinators, especially if they’re donors or season ticket holders.

You post structure has gotten better, but still fail overall.
I only said about what a coach and their family have in their lives.
Do you ramble like this all the time?
I do like the laughing emoji.
