Made a run against Bama. Went toward sideline right in front of LSU bench. If he opens his eyes and cuts to middle, it's a 70 yd TD.

Fournette had every tool a RB needs except vision and shiftiness. I sit in the end zone and can see the holes open up for the running backs. Leonard missed most of them and was still very successful on physical talent alone. If he had the other two attributes, he would have been unstoppable.

I think we needed to throw to him more. Get the ball to him past the line of scrimmage and he would have been unstoppable.

This one hurt. I remember being a savant when it came to recruiting in the mid to late 2000s. Recruiting rankings on Rivals/ESPN were a new thing and I’d study the news every night on my computer. I could name each top 50 player and tell you everything about them.

Good times…

Fournette. Watched him in HS against my and my kids school 5x. As a Junior, we played Aug in the last game of the season and the first game of the playoffs, so back to back weeks. He mostly did what he wanted in the Catholic league.

Underwood was til he wasn’t. Fournette was part of the five so that underwhelmed. I might go back as far as Faulk or Spears as names that were huge

For me it’s Russel Shepard, Leonard Fournette, and Freak Johnson with Lenny getting the nod. Recruiting has changed and I don’t think anyone will ever come close to the hype LF got coming in, it was way different in that era.

Well, to be fair, he just ran over and thru them, or carried them too.

IIRC Zach Mettenberger was a grad transfer. The hype and excitement was huge after a few years of the Miles’ philosophy of running into a stacked box over and over.

First play of the spring game that year he threw a BOMB, and the 15k fans in attendance all stood and cheered.

Has to be Fournette. Folks were comparing him to Hershel Walker as a freshman in highschool.

PP7 a close second. He had a lot of hype and excitement around his commitment.

From the time I started following recruiting (5 for 5 era)

Fournette
Jamal Adams
Dylan Moses (close ties to campus, ultimately chose bama)
Stingley
Devin White
I feel like Malachi Dupre was a tad more hyped than Chase coming out of hs because of his star rating.
Rashard Lawrence

Basically any 5 star we landed, or were close to landing.
