We need our catcher to spend the whole summer at a blocking camp, especially Arrambide.

The Cs can do better but our Ps do them no favors.

Won't surprise me if before this season's over, one of our pitchers bounces one 9' in front of the plate and it goes through the strike zone. The "bounce-pitch."

Pitchers- the entire starting rotation SHOULD be back- along with a lot of talented bullpen guys- could have the best staff in the country, or the could fall flat on their faces again….

Crazy how development works in college baseball, especially in pitching. This could statistically be the worst pitching staff at LSU in my lifetime. Yet, the statement above is also true.

The old saying is development isn't linear. And everyone arrives at their own pace.

It kind of means that DJ Primeaux could make a Grant Fontenot-type jump next season. Which would be awesome.

Moore is a junior; he can come back regardless of redshirt status. He will lose leverage, though. Jay did mention they would seek a redshirt for Moore. If he gets the redshirt, he would maintain leverage, and I would expect him back.

5 for 5 is going to pass so they don't need to get a redshirt - he'll have 2 years left to play

Gotta go with how things are right now until the changes are made and we know what the fine print is, but I do expect it to pass as well. That will change a few of the dynamics, including allowing Milam to return and maintain leverage if he thinks he can improve his hitting just a bit.

Jake Brown's fielding is average.

Stanfield has not been great either. I know he’s been hurt but still. Outstanding is a strong word. Curiel yes has been very consistent and good.

That's what everybody said coming into this year, how did that work out for us?

If the 5 years to play 5 eligibility rule passes, then redshirts won’t be a thing anymore, but all 3rd year Juniors like Moore would have leverage.

The difference is that next year, the pitchers we will be relying on will have experience in their actual roles rather than just a hope that they can adjust.

I get that's a little nuanced for you to process fully, so feel free to ignore it and continue bitching about everything.

Now this is the type of analysis I come to the rant for

If our fielding/defense was better this year, we'd have 6-7 more wins in the SEC IMO.

That's such a hard pill to swallow. Pitching and hitting haven't been elite, but they've been good enough for us to be playing the postseason.

I have full faith starting pitching will be good next year and fielding CANT be worse.

Ruckert seems to have found his footing defensively. He wasn't perfect over the weekend, but he was better. And did really well Tuesday.

I can see us fielding better in general the rest of the season. It may mean we do less of the position switching with Milam, allowing everyone to think less and play more instinctually. Which should help.

The position switching and shifting is one of the things that burned Clauss in his meltdown inning. (There were other, more egregious things that he did irrespective of the shift or position switching)

serna is the future at catcher I think it would be a good idea for us to spend the off season developing arrambide at a position in addition to catcher to keep him happy. we need to give the guy options besides dh to keep him here and his bat in the lineup. obviously we need more than one catcher but serna can catch 75 percent of games
