The answer lies somewhere between Michael Clayton and Devery Henderson - which is absurd to think about. Both went on to have respectable professional careers, and also were really good receivers in college - just solid players.

David Jones, he's from Maryland. We were a team of southern boys

What's impressive about that roster is the size in 2003 and the number of starters from Louisiana. Love that.

Can we count place kicker? That team never did find a dependable kicker.

The guy who caught the bluegrass miracle?

That guy played 9 seasons for the Saints and was a major contributor during LSU's 2003 season and the Saint's 2009 season. Undoubtedly one of the most beloved Louisiana football players ever. Certainly not part of the convo related to OP's premise.

I was today years old whenever I realized Travis Daniels is not the older brother of Jesse Daniels

I don't see a single weak spot on offense or defense starters. That roster was loaded.

During the call of the Bluegrass Miracle, Jim Hawthorne accidentally said Jack Hunt's name instead of Devery Henderson. So it has become a running gag here
Sir, i'm well aware.

The "black Jack" is referencing Devery getting mistaken for Jack.

Whitworth and Rodney Reed being on that 1998 West Monroe national championship team on the offensive line is just not fair in high school

...and then you had Bradie James at linebacker, yeesh

None of them. The 03 team was the coolest and best team we’ve had besides 2019 as someone else said. They were so good.

I guess if I was just forced to make a decision as far as worst true starter combining offense and defense I reckon I would have to say Matt Mauck. Only because he was more of a game manager instead of a game changer as he didn’t seem to have the running ability he had the previous year before his injury. He was always good and smart enough to never lose the game, but couldn’t take over a game. Regardless though he was still really good as I’m pretty much nitpicking here because the 03 team was so stacked at every position.

Eric Edwards and he was good. That’s how good that team was.

Bring on the down votes:

QB. Punter. But, like has been said, it was a hell of a group of starters.
