Who do you guys think will get the start?

I am not sure what Casan Evans' current status is. If Ja wants him to get some throws in in a game situation, I could see him pitching an inning or two vs Tulane. I don't really expect that and did not list him below.

Here are the guys who did not pitch this weekend.

Mavrick Rizy
Jaden Noot
Danny Lachenmayer
Cooper Williams
Dax Dathe
Reagan Ricken
Ethan Plog
DJ Primeaux
Connor Benge
Zion Theophilus

From that list, I think the likely starters are, in no particular order:

Jaden Noot
Danny Lachenmayer
Cooper Williams
Reagan Ricken
Zion Theophilus

I'm leaning toward it being Lachenmayer.

What does tRant say?

I would 100% NOT start Ricken or Rizzy.

I would start with Noot the Root then roll into Cooper Williams

ETA: Excited for the game!

I would start Ricken, show you have trust in him that last week was an aberration and hope he repays the trust.

Alternatively, I wouldn't mind seeing Rizy get a start with a short reliever ready right away. See how he does in a starting role with the opportunity to extend as long as he's not actively melting down.

Noot could neuter Tulane, I feel confident in that.

Great question.

We need to win this one, but save arms. I could see a few relievers since it's Tue then Fri.

I'd like to see Cooper Williams start. Hold him to about 45 or 3 innings whichever comes first. Then follow with Ricken and Noot no particular order

I think Jay continues with the youth movement - one more start to give Ricken

Will definitely see a lot of pitchers cycle through like Lachenmeyer, Williams, Rizy, etc.

Will be interesting to see what Rizy decides to do as a draft eligible soph
Maybe he's ready to take whatever he can get out of the draft

Noot from all indications needs to decide if he cares enough to want to keep playing baseball, he has good stuff at times but his motivation and effort needs to ramp up if he wants any chance at the professional level

I really thought Dathe would have a much bigger role this year.

Probably going to be Ricken. He will be a weekend starter next year. If not him, then Benge

Ricken (keep going young, give him confidence for future)
That’s why you recruited them as the #1 class.

This looks like Tuesday and Friday trash day in Dallas. Sheesh, no confidence in any one from this list.

Eh you have to remember who is coming back next year(barring transfer portal). Evans, Schmidt, and Moore will all be back. Evans won’t go back to the pen in his money year. Not to mention the emergence of Paz

Benge and Dathe have the best walk/strike out ratio. But their ERAs are high. I think that is partly a result of when they have been brought into games.

IMO players with the best pitches are Benge, Rizy, Williams, & Rickens

Benge always gets thrown into terrible pressure situations…. I’m sure he would appreciate a start with a clean slate lol
