If any name on that list had been hired in 2021, this place would have been apoplectic

This board was apoplectic over BK for 24 hours in 2021.

People melted because we just hired that northerner prick dinosaur who never won a big game and was involved in the scissor lift incident for $100 million.

Then people calmed down and tried to reassure and convince themselves.

The ADs job is not to appease the fanbase. The ADs job is find the candidate that will work best at LSU.

Clearly BK in his 60s was not the best choice.

Lanning is a good answer.

Lanning was never coming to LSU.

This place said as long as LSU didn't hire an idiot, that coach would win a championship since Les Miles and Coach O did.

I think Lane would have been a much better hire.

I think at the time Kiffin was the right person. I think he would have had a championship with JD and would not have allowed the Matt House failure. Would not have hired him.

If Woody had properly hired Lane, Woody would still be AD and the toast of the town. He’d be untouchable by Landry.

Woody never vetted him by checking his relationships with former players and coaches- If he would have done that - he would not have been hired

Well that view was absolutely incorrect. So the signs were misunderstood.

Gordon McKernan yesterday made it sound like Woody was doing what the BOS told him to do by hiring BK

The landscape of the sport has shifted dramatically even since BK took the job.
The way he built a program at Cincinnati 20 years ago and ND 10-15 years ago may not be the way to do it anymore.
Hire someone young that has proven to win in this current landscape and someone willing to adapt.

BK was like Les Miles? Maybe you worked with both of them or knew them both personally? If you only knew them through a fans lens then I would have to disagree with you completely!

Any assistant coach with reasonable P5 experience, inexpensive (3 mil or less per year ->more NIL money), 3-4 year contract, young, and willing to put in the work with no bull-shite, and no fake drama trying to "fit" in. Basically an UNKNOWN would have worked better!
Worst case, we could have had the same results and contract would be over!

Kelly was a mistake, but Kiffin isnt the best hire we couldve made over him.

Yep, no one could have predicted Kiffin becoming his best self on and off the field; he has literally changed his lifestyle for the better.

Kelly on the other hand seems to be going down a downward spiral. He just gave up on LSU.

Thinking we’re too good for whomever is costly. Have an open mind and have a broad interview process that is more inclusive than exclusive.

You are talking common sense, when you know that isn't welcomed here.

Joe Dean or was it Broadhead that should have hired Steve Spurrier instead of Mike Archer?
