How can you not mention the all-time leading tackler in LSU history? Al Richardson 450 tackles in 4 years.
.

Cause he’s only like 19

It happens to be one of the most underrated LSU players of the last 20 yrs: Kevin Minter.

Our safety play from Ryan Clark - Grant Delpit was something we took for granted. Landry, Reid, Adam’s, Honey Badger, Delpit, and a few others just got guys down on the ground.

Not even top 10. He ran poor angles and made it up with speed. To be a “great tackler”, you have to have sound technique. He would have been all time had he played with better technique.

You never saw Michael Brooks, Al Richardson, Warren Capone or Tommy Casanova play. They were truly great tacklers.

I am going way back to the 80s or early 90s and I can’t remember his damn name so hopefully someone can’t help me here. He was a safety that played baseball too, many gave been a relief pitcher or something, but I specifically remember him being shot out of a cannon against Miss State and stopping what looked like a game winning TD and saving the season. It seems like he got seriously injured in a freak car accident or something.

Would’ve been Jarrett Lee if Les Miles would’ve gave him a shot

What you’re describing matches Chad Jones in every aspect. However, Jones won a national championship in football in 2007 and one in baseball in 2009.

Al Richardson has a statistical advantage. To be honest, he also rarely missed a tackle, so I think he has to be way, way up there.

Bradie James and Devin White were outstanding tacklers as well. Eric Hill and Michael Brooks would be in the conversation, IMHO.

Pat Pete, especially as a lock down corner and Kevin Minter come to mind.

2009 Chad Jones played both but the 90’s or 80’s, you got me there

The targeting rule has all but neutered defenses….they are forced to arm tackle now.

George Bevan. With Michael Brooks and Tommy Casanova not far behind.
