Found an article about top 5 LSU LB & it had Warren Capone (70-73) as #1

he's before my time, but from everything I've read on him, he's a good pick.

Re tacklers vs "spectacular defensive players", I go back to the Dome Patrol as a point of reference.

Rickey Jackson was a HOF and the heart of the team.
Pat Swilling was a sack machine
Sam Mills was elite
But for 'best tackler', give me Vaughn Johnson. When he hit your arse, you went down right there. Faced off with a RB in the open field, he would hit, wrap up, and no further gain. Really the only question before contact was how long it would take for the RB to get up

Which is why I don't take a safety. Just my personal preference.

My vote. Underrated, and if he's on the '13 team the defense isn't nearly as bad as it was vs Georgia

Eta: I know the secondary blew the game, but a little more communication and one more reliable player like minterto make any stop was the difference IMO
