Who is a guy that you know if a ball carrier is within 3 to 5 yards that he was going down? This might sound a silly question, but it's the biggest part of the game on defense. Simply tackling.

Devin White is my opinion. You knew without a single doubt that if there was a ball carrier within 5 yards that he would not only outrun them but he was a for sure tackle. I don't think I ever saw one broken tackle on him. It was automatic, and it was extremely sudden. Ball carrier stood no chance, and he was so strong and fast that it was usually very quick he hit the ground. Had incredible closing speed. Was 100% effort every time.

Honorable mention: Kevin Minter, Mingo, Tre White. Didn't start following LSU football very closely until '11

This was a huge problem last year. So many half arse attempts. Do you consider Whit Weeks that guy at least reliable on this front?

Coach Mac said if the ball carrier is between the white lines, Mike Anderson will tackle him. That was before my time. Michael Brooks had a hell of a nose for the ball.

Jamal Adams was pretty damn good. Kendall Beckwith is another name I’d throw out there.

How can you not mention the all-time leading tackler in LSU history? Al Richardson 450 tackles in 4 years.

Give me a linebacker from that era; could be Richardson, could be Michael Brooks, Eric Hill, Ron Sancho or Brady James later.

My criteria of "best tackler" is that it's 3 yds to go (score, 1st down or whatever), and your tackler is 1-2 yds away. I want guaranteed contact (no whiffs), AND stop the ball short of the line. That's gonna be a linebacker.
