Mathieu. Fight me.

As a cover corner? He wasn’t even the best cover corner on any team he played on at LSU.

He is the greatest playmaker in the history of LSU football but as a pure corner he was just good not great.

but I just don’t remember Claiborne ever getting beat unless it was Karnell Hatcher murdering him across the middle against Arkansas.

Florida, down by a lot sent their speedster deep two drives in a row - about a 70 yard TD against Mo, then an interception against Mathieu.

Mo was good in coverage, but Mathieu was as good. Peterson was far better.

It will be Stingley when all is said and done.

For now I’ll take Pat Peterson. No one even tried him.

One could make an argument for any of these four.

Casanova was a beast as a CB and punt returner. He missed a lot of PT due to injuries. I often wondered if that wasn’t partially due to his also playing some offense. Hopefully the same thing doesn’t happen to Stingley !

He was a great ambassador for LSU football when LSU was at best "under-achieving". Somebody everybody could pull for. Talent + humility = rare combination.

And the coeds were crazy for him. One former teammate of his told me he hung around Casanova just for his leftovers.

I am not saying he is the best, but I would have loved to see what Rashard Robinson could have done as a four year starter. I remember him totally shutting down Mike Evans in the A&M game as a freshman. To me he is the "Cecil Collins" of the secondary. Oh, what might have been if he just acted right.

Casanova for now but Stingly was really really good last year. He will end up being the best barring any type of serious injury.

Casanova may have achieved the most but that was before they let black people play. He wouldn’t be able to play corner in today’s game.
