Came across this a while back and was thinking about early season games. Watching Sammy play and witnessing how special he was is something Ill never forget.

For those younger fans, if you want to see a player in pads blaze, watch the YouTube video of that play from the TAMU game. Notice his strides.

Fastest dude to baldness I've ever witnessed too.

He was a polite kid too. Kinda dressed like he was going to a disco tech. Once, we came up early for a game and I saw this skinny bald guy get out of a cutlass looking like he came from a shooting of Saturday Night Fever and it was him.

He came right after Dalton Hilliard and was somewhat similar in his size and elusiveness. Was a speedster on kickoff returns. Blew me and my buddy’s mind when we found out he was white.

Will never forget going to South Bend in the freezing cold and watching him tear up Notre Dame! What a game for him!

There was that game and the hottest one on earth at TAMU. He was very impressive.

One of the best runs I ever saw by an LSU back was a 10 yard TD by Sammy. He must have made 5 cuts and ran for 20 yards zig zagging and making guys miss over a 10 yard span. Was awesome. I believe it was the Ole Miss game.

We were just talking about him today. I remember him running all over Ole Miss in Jackson in 1987.

Sammy's only a couple of years older than I am and he looks like he could be my grandfather.

The only guy with the same football speed I can think of is Trindon Holliday.

When he’d be back waiting to return a kick or punt, the crowd would start chanting “Sammy! Sammy!” Now that would never happen because they’d have some piped in music for the ADHD crowd.

One of my favorite players growing up.

Him, Wendell, Rogie, Hodson, Hilliard, Fuller, Hill, Andolsek, Rehage, Brooks... the 80's had some great players

When you mention Sammy Martin, the first thing I think of is a prematurely balding 20 year old, and the next think I think of is this:
