We were 26 point favorite in 1982, not even close, by far worst loss, Troy was 20…not even close, 82 and sorry Pete Jenkins was DL coach….biggest point spread loss ever….

The fight was 1984.

Growing up in Baton Rouge, I never understood the hatred towards Tulane. I think that was really from LSU fans that lived in New Orleans. I dislike OohLaLa more than Tulane!

79 LSU finished 7-5, but close calls against USC, Florida State, and Bama. I realize that was a 9-3 Tulane team ranked in the top 20, but I can’t imagine they had the talent of the Tigers.

‘81 LSU headed into the game at 3-6-1. Regardless, no Tiger squad should get dumped 48-7 by 5-5 Tulane.

‘82 loss to Tulane might be one of the most inexplicable losses in LSU history. It didn’t have a lasting impact, as the Tigers still went to the Orange Bowl and damn near knocked off the Huskers. You would think coming off a win over Florida State would be enough momentum to beat a 3-win team at home.

79 Tulane had Larry Smith as HC, up an coming coach, he was hired by Arizona, who had just joined the PAC 8 to make it the PAC 10 and had a solid record there. Got the USC, job, first 3 years got to the Rose bowl, lost first 2, won 3rd, had a losing season then a 6-5 year and resigned due to pressure went to Mizzou.

81 and 82 LSU lost to Vegas Vince Gibson, 82 was one of the worst in the history, LSU was like a 30 point favorite. I was at that game.

Bring back Tulane and GA Tech to SEC and add Clemson and Florida State.

Would then have a bunch of old rivals in conference and we would get to pound Tulane 19 out of 20 years.

1973 was the worst. My ride to Miami bailed due to that aberration.

I can still see Reginelli taking a bite out of one of the oranges that had been thrown on the field and throwing it back up into the stands. Definitely’82

I had a friend from HS who was an offensive lineman on the team. Two Tulane players had him on the ground and we're punching him in the helmet wit their bare fists. He just laughed at them.

None of them...the worst was 1973.
Tulane won 14-0, beating LSU for the first time since 1948.

I was there at Tulane Stadium. It was a nightmare. Tulane fans swarmed the field after the game. It was like a bad Mardi Gras scene. We played horribly and were never in it. The game should have been played in Baton Rouge, but then-AD Carl Maddox had botched the future LSU schedules and realized he had too many home games in 1973, so he flipped with Tulane and the Tigers played in New Orleans in both 1972 (we were lucky to win that one) and 1973.
Coach Mac never forgave Maddox for that.

Next worse has to be that '82 game in the rain (at Tiger Stadium!). That Tulane team had no business beating an LSU team headed for the Orange Bowl.

82. Besides the sting of the loss it was the year that Tulane students let Mike out of his habitat.

1981 was one of the worst games any LSU team has ever played, but 1982 was the most inexplicable. LSU had played excellent football all season long had beat Alabama and blasted Florida State. They were much better than Tulane and should have gone to the Orange Bowl with a stellar 9-1-1 record. I don't know what happened to the Tigers that night.

All were bad. Sorry we don’t play them annually anymore… I say 62-0 every year!

81 was the worst experience I ever had - Tulane still had fans back then and that game was in the Dome and they were obnoxious.

Then they beat us the next year in TS and also in the PMAC in a blowout in the first round of the NIT. That was a rough year I'll tell you.
