Which loss to Tulane was the worst: 79, 81, or 82?

‘79 LSU finished 7-5, but close calls against USC, Florida State, and Bama. I realize that was a 9-3 Tulane team ranked in the top 20, but I can’t imagine they had the talent of the Tigers.

‘81 LSU headed into the game at 3-6-1. Regardless, no Tiger squad should get dumped 48-7 by 5-5 Tulane.

‘82 loss to Tulane might be one of the most inexplicable losses in LSU history. It didn’t have a lasting impact, as the Tigers still went to the Orange Bowl and damn near knocked off the Huskers. You would think coming off a win over Florida State would be enough momentum to beat a 3-win team at home.

'81 was humiliating beat down in the Dome.
'82 was a complete let down in a monsoon with Reggie R running all over the Tigers
'81 and '82 for the tie.

1982 is the worst of them. This was a great LSU team who got beat by a bad Tulane team. 1981 was well what it was a bad LSU team not caring. 1979 Tulane had a good team.

after the '82 game Tulane had Tshirts printed up '3 out 4 and going for more'

can't believe we haven't played them in over a decade

Did any of you hear RICHARD CONDON on the post game show with Hannigriff talking about how much he hates Tulane? That's me. Those 81 and 82 loses to the Slime were brutal. (GBFTL) BTW, anybody that can't stand Condon would absolutely not like sharing space with me. (Old School Realist that tells it like it Is)

Vegas Vince Gibson, Tiger Slayer. Had some of Les Miles quirkiness type motivation in him in a Tulane that was less than 20 years removed from SEC football. That era Tulane could take the occasional NOLA Catholic League kid we wanted.

Agree 82 was the worst as it was a phenomenal Tiger squad and showed Stovall was never going to have the consistency to get to elite level.

That was 3 out of 4 years of my college experience. Football was miserable then. You guys don't know how lucky you have it. This is truly the golden age of Tiger Football and I am glad I am around to see it.

1973 and it’s not even close for me. We had not lost to Tulane in 24 yrs and always dreaded the day when they would beat us. Some idiot actually minted doubloons saying 25 years of undefeated football against Tulane before the game. I grew up in New Orleans and had to deal with “if you flunk out of Tulane you can teach at LSU”. I hated Tulane. That loss crushed me.
TUCK FULANE!!

‘82 was the worst for me because I was actually at that game. I was to young to remember the other two.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the literal beat down LSU gave Tulane at the end of that game. One of my first memories of Tiger Stadium.

If we played them this year, that would be the worst.

We would lose

My brother was the captain of those teams. Played MLB. I was a student at LSU. Tulane had a great coaching staff. Larry Smith was the head coach, Lindy Infante was the Offensive Coordinator and Fitzgerald was the D Coordinator. He coached linebackers for 4 Super Bowl champion Steelers. Smith became Head Coach of USC and Infante left to be head coach of the Packers.

81 was the worst. Tulane was pretty good in 79 and that 82 game was played in a quagmire.

I was in school during Mike Archer and Curley Hallman. You people who were there in the early ‘80s only had 2 bad years. You have no idea.
