I love Chad Jones but he has always been one of the most over rated safeties. He is like top 6 or so but not close to 1

10 minutes of Delpit highlights

what can't this dude do? it does show that one Int he dropped vs A&M that would've sealed it (a couple plays before the one he actually caught that got overturned). that dropped Int was about the only play he didn't make all year.

So your answer to where Delpit will rank all time among LSU safeties is no?

Well you do get a plus for great economy with words, so there’s that.

One thing for sure, Delpit is in the conversation for top safety ever at LSU, and that is saying a ton.

If he plays like last year he is number one for me. Not to be a Winnfield homer, but he is very comparable to Jeffery Dale size wise and is faster. Gotta put Dale in there if we had a top 10 safety discussion.

1. Mathieu (if we are counting him as safety)
2. Delpit
3. Jamal Adams
4. Laron Landry
5. Casanova (too old for my time)

The only reason I did not mention Matthieu in the original post is that I don’t remember him playing much safety at LSU, but rather a corner/nickel back. He does play safety now and he’s a good one. I don’t know there was ever a better playmaking defensive back at LSU than Mathieu

I have Landry and Delpit at the top, but what makes the comparison so hard how they ref so weak on the hits these days! I feel like if allowed Delpit could lay the wood almost as good as Laron, bu when he tries they go to eject you. The one up Laron had on Delpit was WRs were legit scared to catch the ball around him bc he’d hurt them so.

In all seriousness, I think he is already the best. He will be a top 10 pick in the draft.

Agree completely until #5. He's dead to me.

Chad Jones is the GOAT!!!! Not only at safety but Special Teams GOAT as well.

I think it depends on how this season goes for him, if he plays like he did last season and improves, could be the best ever.

if you consider tm7 a safety, then any list without him on the top by a wide margin is inaccurate.

I thought Jamal Adam's was maybe the best safety I'd seen at LSU and Delpit is every bit as good, but bigger and maybe faster.

no mention of Mark Roman in any rankings?!!!
Well, there are some folks who don’t realize that LSU actually had a football program prior to 2003 . . .

BTW -- Steve Rehage says “hello”. . .

The Arnsbarger Era’s version of Art Cantrelle.
