Where does this 2023 team rank with the 6 other National Title teams?

Lots of stars on this team and quite the road map in Omaha to the title. Is this one the best or is maybe, 1997?

1997, but not by much.
One could argue that NCAA baseball is way more competitive now.

In terms of relative to their time? Probably 97.
But I believe this team would beat 97 in a 3 game series.
Also known as a “can you sweep the final 2 games after you lose to Paul Skenes” series
The problem with these questions is they aren’t fair to the older squads. To suggest that 2023 doesn’t have a knowledge/preparation advantage over 1997 is to suggest that we’ve learned nothing over the last 26 years and evolved none.

Agreed.
The 1997 team was the most dominant of Skip's teams. The 2023 was on pace until they stumbled a bit towards the end of the season.
Still, I don't think you can say anyone had a tougher path through the CWS than the 2023 team. The had to beat an SEC team (Tennessee) 2x, as well as the #1 and #2 teams 2x each, all in the span of 10 days.

It depends on how you’re judging them. I think ‘09 or 2000 actually had the most big leaguers. This team could eventually top those, especially with more long-term, better big leaguers, but there’s no guarantee, obviously, and we’d have to wait a while to be able to judge it.
It’s a fun topic, but there’s no objective right answer. “Best” is in the eye of the beholder.

97 was peak Gorilla Ball but them playing this year's team would've been a helluva matchup.

No doubt. Just winding down not wanting to do much before a pseudo four day weekend (can't imagine Mon will be much).

The strength of the teams faced in Omaha and the level of play might make this the best team ever...it's just hard to top the walk off win. I just enjoy all of them...in 91 I truly didn't believe I would ever see us win one and now it's 7

Oh, I wasn’t hating on the topic at all. It’s way better than the Daniels vs. Nuss ones that a sure to start littering the board very soon. There’s already 1.

2009 was the most complete team we’ve had in every phase of the game. That team really had no weaknesses.
Two AA pitchers in the rotation and a great #3. Best closer in college baseball with good middle relief. We hit for average and power and had arguably the best defense in college baseball. We also swept through the NCAAT to the finals, blowing out everyone in the CWS until the championship series. We also won the SEC and SECT, not losing a single SEC series. That team is very under appreciated

Top 2 for sure.
Not the lowest ERA ever. But this team broke the LSU record for team strikeouts.
And it looks like they tied the team record for on base percentage with 0.432. Stats list doesn't give plate attempts so I'm not sure if there is a rounding difference.

I wasnt old enough to really know the 90s teams but I would put 2009 up against 2023 and would probably pick 2009 in a 3 game series. 2009's batting order from top to bottom was better imo.

One game winner take all, no team is beating Skenes.
Three game series would make it interesting. People always forget that the 1991 team was LOADED with pitching, both front line and bullpen. I don’t know if the 1997 team had enough overall pitching to lose to Skenes in game 1 and then win 2 in a row. 2009, as others have mentioned, gets under rated in theses discussions.

The 1991 team steamrolled through the CWS. The championship game was 6-3 but it was really never in doubt.

1997 is the only team that might have a better team overall.
This is how I would rank it
1. 1997
2. 2023
3. 1996
4. 2000
5. 1991
6. 2009
7. 1993

Depends on what you mean by best.
most talents? probably.
would win head to heads arguably
most accomplished? no
we’ve had teams win the SEC and the Tournament and 2009 had a better record in the post season.

Without delving too deep in the numbers, this one is probably who I’d go with too. With as great as their lineup was and they just homered their way through the postseason, I think the ‘97 team is probably a bit overrated with so much time removed. I bet they lost more games and more games by big margins than people remember. But the absurd amount of home runs has kinda skewed the perception of how they really were. Which is fine by me, I loved watching that team hit 450+ ft bombs all over the place.
