Does anyone else still remember the Florida game in 2006 in Gainsville? Jamarcus throws a WR screen to Craig Davis, and he scores from about 20 yards out, but it's called back by a completely phantom holding call on Herman Johnson at the 3 yard line. Literally nothing that even resembled holding and no one around to have been confused with someone else. I felt that was a blatantly criminal call, and a few plays later Jamarcus fumbled on the 1 yard line. LSU would have gone up 14-7 in that game and everything derailed afterwards. That 2006 team was so much better than they ever got credit for.

The outcome of that game is not the point though. The fact that replay was in existence, and PP7 CLEARLY caught the ball/stayed in, and LSU didn't get the call is still, to this day, the most solid arguement ever presented that ref's (at least those refs) had an Alabama tilt.
Sad part was, they were talking about that play on the NFL shows sunday morning. The fox crew said it wouldve been an INT in the pros, let alone college.

and this crew is supposed to be the top official crew in the SEC. They did however do a good job on Nov. 5th

I thought PP7 int was much more legit than Reids last year. I was nervous about that call. PP7, I was shocked. I have never seen a poorer call in 25 years of watching football at any level.

That stills stings like a son of a beach

it was not DPi due to the tip. Technically it should have been defensive holding....
actually it was pass interference
officials said it wasnt BECAUSE of the tip
but on the the replay you can see that he was tackled prior to the tip, which should have drawn the DPI call

I'm usually of the persuasion that calls come out in the wash. So even an infinite # of bad calls could in theory be offset.
On the other hand, even a single bad call could impact an outcome. In the '06 Auburn game there were evident multiple bad calls that went against us of which any could have affected the outcome.

Even worse is that Hester still apparently scored again after that on the same possession, only to be called down at the 1 on replay. Then we fumbled the snap.

Yep. Robbed blind at Auburn and then got unlucky as hell against Florida. I am 100% convinced if we had gotten a rematch with them in the SECCG, we would have won.

If instant replay was around in 04 we would have won the Auburn game even before the penalty. On their last drive a receiver fumbled along the sideline, it popped into the air, and one of the Daniels caught/recovered it...but was ruled out of bounds. They went on to score and win.
Then again, they had replay in 06 and still couldn't get the Hester catch/fumble on 4th down correct.

Prime example of one not being able to make an objective call in the heat of the moment due to being a fan of a team involved. The guy that blew that call was an Auburn grad. This has to be fixed, however as long as the NCAA allows conferences to control the officials it will not. SEC officials will be largely from areas around Birmingham, Big12 from around Dallas etc. and those teams that are around those areas will get better calls not because the official wants to give them an advantage but because at the root of it they are still fans.

"Officials "impact" close games all the time."
It is a very fine line between what affects the game and what is just part of the game. It is hard to see which is which when you are pulling for one side.
Sure one play can impact the outcome of a game and so can a call, but one you can prove and one you cannot.

that Miss state rb still hasnt crossed the goaline that they counted as the game winning td for them the last time they beat us (99???)

Like everyone else said, the Auburn game where Doucet?/Lafell? was tackled in the endzone and no penalty was called. 06 I think; it was odd because he was crushed, and the ball was tipped- but clearly after our WR had already been hit. I just don't know how the rules are on that. Have to think defensive holding at least... shouldn't be able to tackle offensive players before a tip.
The 09 Bama game, while we still likely lose, had a couple glaringly bad calls. JJ (who was playing very well) got knocked out with one of the most brutal spearing non-calls ever, and then PP doesn't get the INT. Both times an official was staring at the play and called it wrong. That game had me questioning the motives of the refs.

also, we likely wouldve won the 2006 auburn game if they wouldve called the early doucet pass interference.
bullshite. LSU had the ball 5[FIVE]Times inside the AU 50 in the 1st half and got ZERO points. The play-calling was horrible.

ell we wouldve won the 2004 auburn game had it not been for that stupid fricking rule
I agree with this. BUT LSU marched down the field with Randall the very 1st drive and the team was clicking and then JR came in and ALL the fluid execution was gone.
