When is JJ going to wake up and realize Hurd is not a starter!

It’s getting ridiculous. The kid is as so overhyped coming from UCLA and all he had been is a disappointment. Put him in the bullpen and have the other pitchers man the F up! This is such a bad coaching decision!

Hurd pitched fine today… Bingham makes that catch the game would’ve looked a lot different IMO.

Was saying what you’re saying now, this time last year. Jj needs everyone to stfu and let him coach. Hurd probably won’t budge from Sunday, hes successful in that role (nat champ), usually need an experienced leader there.

He could definitely be a long reliever. Should never face the lineup more than twice though.

Is he though? He started as the Sunday starter last year and really struggled to the point where he was moved to a midweek guy and reliever. That's where he had his success last year. You are letting a few games cloud your judgement on what he has been since he has gotten here.

WHO else are you plugging into that spot? Anderson and Coleman were both ineffective yesterday. Anderson seems overmatched by SEC hitters. SP was not the problem this past weekend. The bullpen (except Herring & Ack) and the lack of any type of sustainable OFFENSE is hurting this team (3 hits yesterday, yes 3). Some guys who looked good early, from the pen and at the plate, are now being eaten up by SEC competition.
13 players drafted last season and a host of new faces figuring it out every day at the plate and from the bump. We need to get better, but the schedule is not going to do us any favors. Keep working Tigers!

The “shut up he’s the coach” response anytime someone has an opinion on a message board is so tiresome. Especially when it’s on a topic that we saw play out last year. If you are looking at it objectively, Hurd isn’t very good as a starter and is much better coming out of the bullpen.

He pitched fine yesterday. They just leave him in too long and let him implode, happens every time.

But those few games, which were some of the biggest of the year last year, show the potential he has as a starter. There's no doubt we'll need him to start for us if we make a run in the post season.
We didn't lose the series this weekend because of Hurd; we lost it because our bats are anemic aside from a few solo HRs
