Lane will leave in 4 or 5 years like he always does and Baker will be the new HC at LSU.

In 2004 Jimbo Fisher got offered the Mississippi State job. Jimbo called a few friends in the profession. Jimbo after talking with a few friends, passed on the job. The job was given to Sylvester Croom. A few years later, he’d get the Head Coach in Waiting title, at Florida St.
One of the guys he discussed taking the job with, said, “If you’re going to take the job and are offering me a job, I’m turning you down now! My wife would kill me!”
Baker can be selective, when he’s ready. Remember, you have to fill a staff, many coaches asks other coaches, thoughts on a job, and family comes into play, with most.
Lane talked with a number of folks, before taking the LSU job, Saban was one.

There are some guys who are fine just being a coordinator but almost all of them want to run their own show. They money is great but I am sure he would take less to run his own program. Running your own program is the goal for almost all of these guys.

I still think Vanderbilt is the monster job in the SEC to blow up. Nashville is has turned into a place to be and they have money.

Dang. Just stop it. Why are some people so adamant about this. Let the season play out. It will be what it’s going to be. Maybe he doesn’t want to be a HC. That comes with more stress. Hell, he’s already making like 3-4 million.

Baker and Weis will be HCs next year.
At LSU they’re paid very well and under Kiffin and the players he’s bringing in will have incredible stability. Unlike other eras they don’t have to worry as much about their HC stock taking a step back and getting out while the iron is hot. So the pressure to jump into a less optimal program because it’s what’s available at the end of the year is way less pronounced than it used to be. They can pick their spots like Baker just did
We’ll be fine either way. Kiffin isn’t O when it comes to unhinged coordinator hires. It’s more likely he’s closer to a Saban at pulling in the best prospects in the business. He’s always been great at that, it’s a perk of your dad being a legend and the extended coaching trees that come with what’s already a long career as a HC

Doubtful since he was already offered that at his alma mater a few months ago and he turned it down. Plus, something that hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread is that when Baker turned down Tulane this past offseason, one of the reasons he stated is that his family really likes it here in BR.
I think the only HC jobs he will consider, or the only jobs that will be enticing enough for him to leave LSU will have to be be big time schools/programs and those schools/programs are the type that pay their HC more than what he makes now.
But make now mistake about it, he will be getting HC offers every year from now on. I think its inevitable that he will eventually leave for a HC job one day. I'm just glad he stayed this year and hopefully we can keep him around for another year or two. I think anything after this year is lagniappe though.

He turned Tulane down because his wife wanted some stability for their kids.Ithink unless a major job ,top 20 ,offers he will be here a few years.Idont think he’s like Terry Saban and money hungry.
