Now that he’s fired from Baylor.

we should. He is not a one trick pony but a solid DC that can utilize personnel as good or better than Baker

Not necessarily. There is no we. Dave may not want to go back to DC. He might want another shot at HC with a smaller program.

Trust Lane to consider him if Dave is interested, but if Lane has better options in mind I trust Lane.

I think aranda would do well at a G5 school, I’ve heard many call Baylor the “hardest job in Texas.”

How about Baker win us some big games down the stretch first?

Dave may not have a choice if he wants to coach again. He does not have the personality for a head coach. Never did, even when some of the lunatics on here wanted him as our head coach in waiting. That's what many of you don't understand. A person may be great at their trade, but not qualified to lead a program/company. Dave falls into that arena. Nothing wrong with it.

As for him coming back. I wouldn't care either way, but I'd probably pass if it were me.

He doesn't have the personality for one

There were coaches at Baylor before him that had plenty of success.

Honestly, if I were gonna retread the DC, I would first reach out to Muschamp. But Arranda would not hurt my feelings.

Ultimately, though, I have no influence in the matter. That's probably for the best

This is what I don't get. Everytime a Coordinator has just a little success, he is suddenly mentioned for a head coaching gig. Baker calls a good defensive game, for the most part, with still some improvement to be made. How does that mean he is a great prospect for a head coaching gig. Same with Weiss. Some do work out, for sure, but most don't.

While you're certainly not wrong per se, there is definitely not a shortage of ADs looking to be ahead of the curve by latching onto the hot new up and comer or shiny new toy. I would imagine if he wanted one badly enough he would have no problem getting a chance very soon

He can easily go the route that Napier, Frost, and even Kiffin went the route of a small school as a HC. Do i think Dave is HC material at a big-time program, no, but then again I thought BK would have some success at LSU .

No. I loved Dave and thought he was a refreshing type of coach after all the ego-maniacs and loud baloney shouters. That said, his defensive philosophy was not one I liked. The bend but don't break thing just doesn't work in modern football. With the skill of quarterbacks and wide receivers these days, all a prevent defense does is make it easier for a team to march down the field. Constantly having to defend with your back to your own goal doesn't win games. He also admits he hates recruiting which is probably what brought his downfall at Baylor.

Dave would make an excellent NFL defensive coordinator. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t go the NFL route.

Doesn’t fit our current roster. We’d flip to a 3-4. Assuming he still runs that. I haven’t watched Baylor.

Those are Aranda’s total defense rankings as a DC. That’s not “bend but don’t break”.

I’m sure he’ll wait around, unemployed, until that time.
